Called in a hen yesterday, no Tom following her, drove around the area only seen 3 other turkeys on the lease next to mine, huge tom, heard no gobbling, where as prior to youth season our area was on fire. I hate youth season, it educates the birds!

Take a kid out bigcountry and see how excited they get when they get a bird and ya wont hate youth season.
If i can get a kid into it and get em a bird during youth that makes my season and could care less if i get one.
Wish i had more kids around to take out.

I hear ya... I had birds roosted both saturday and sunday that would have came right in but all I could do was watch em strut and gobble. There should be like an organization where kids can sign up and volunteers take them out. I'm sure the legal side and trust side of it would be hard to get over tho.

Had about what sounded like 10 toms and jakes rooster right near me about 100 yards in front on the property line, they were gobbling like I've never heard before. Flew out - dead silent.. Henned up here too. Gotta wait for those hens to lay down on a nest in hopes they break off to answer one of my calls. Good luck guys.

That's what I'm hoping for, I'll just sit and wait.

I am going to sound like an ass hole, but I'm an educator/coach and I feel like we cater to kids to much already, most of us never had youth seasons and we still love to hunt, I feel like people fall into 1 of these 3 categories regardless of success during their youth season- love to hunt, sort of like it or don't. If parents are so concerned with youth having success take them on opening day. Not really angry about I just would like to see youth deer and turkey season disappear.
