Focus. Do you want a truck to pull the double wide you are eyeballing? Or do you want a truck that is faster than your wife's truck? Pick your priorities. Focus. If it were me and I had a camper already, I'd likely keep it and use it. You want a recliner? No kids with you. Pull out the kitchen table and drop a recliner in there while it is your second home. The thoughts of dropping stupid coin on a bohemoth of a camper seems silly. What happens when the economy tanks again and you are laid off? (NOT that I want to see this happen to you, but stuff happens.)

So I went and drove my truck for the first time in a few weeks. Fired right up but the CEL light is on now. The thought of building this truck scares the shit outa me because I know how I am. The thought of buying a 1 ton with similar miles and without the rust...well, that’s at least $30,000+. I don’t like that idea either.

So options here is buy a $30,000-40,000 truck. Or take this truck that I paid $13,000 for and put $5,000 into it and a bunch of time. I don’t really have the time, but I could make it happen now that daylight is getting longer.

My cheap ass says build it...my “never enough” says this is going to cost me double what I want to spend. That same guy on my shoulder says I won’t be happy with a $30,000+ truck and will spend the money anyways. Just have a newer truck. But this 03’ only has 139,000 on it...

I just can’t make up my mind gentleman!!!! Driving me absolutely crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with the truck you have as long as you have the same camper. Out the truck build out of your head until you determine your camper fate. Keep in mind the necessity of truck juggling when shopping new campers. Focus Dave.

Still keeping my Chevy Silverado for my trips out to Ohio but am trading the Jeep in on a new Toyota Tacoma. Signed the papers yesterday and should have the new vehicle in 7-10 days. The Jeep is nice for hunting but I need a smaller pickup truck for everyday use. The Chevy is like driving a boat...a bit too big for everyday use.

Focused and basically bought another camper today. Just gotta figure out details, but I’m gonna buy it either way. Cleared codes on the truck a few minutes ago, gonna drive it north in the morning and see what returns. Injectors need done, haze has started. Floored it for the first time today and was actually impressed with what it had. Still gonna go ahead and probably go oversized injectors and a tune. Trans go Jr to improve flow in the transmission. Fuel tank strap broke about a month ago...guessing I’ll do a fuel system while I have the bed off to fix that.

Suspension will get some bilstiens on the corners.

Interior has the normal dash issues, I’ll send it out to get repaired. I’ve got a door blend actuator on the fritz, it’ll get replaced while I have the dash apart. Multifunction switch (blinker) turns off my cruise when I signal left and sometimes sticks on. It’ll get replaced. Radio sucks as it crackles real bad. It’ll be replaced along with the speakers.

Gonna need tires here soon. Prolly get rims and tires. Also smoke the windows. Add my lights and maybe do some bumpers (these are showing rust). Ditch the chrome. Tow mirrors.

All in all, it’ll be an expensive go and I’ll still have a used truck. But, it’ll be a low miles LB7. I can’t touch a newer diesel with these miles for anything close to what I’ll have into this one.

My goal will be this look.

Unless someone wants to give me my money back...then of coarse it’s for sale before I fall in love with it. 😂 Right now I’m not attached, but I will Be once I bust my knuckles.
