I don't know what the fuss is with vaccines....maybe I'm just clueless, but I don't see horrific and wide spread long term effects on the news about any vaccines. There was some stuff about autism but that was debunked. I'm not having any kids and I'm 56 years old.....I'd take if in a heartbeat.

Those are tried and true, long-standing, studied and well understood vaccines. Before Covid there wasn't a single Mrna vaccine approved for human use, a vaccine usually takes 10 years in studies and trials before it's approved, the longterm data just isn't there.

In 1955 the polio vaccine was rushed to production and a lot accidentally had the live virus which gave about 200,000 people polio, with many dying or becoming permanently disabled.

In the 1970s the government was worried about a pandemic swine flu so the flu vaccine was rushed and they hastily vaccinated 40 million people. The program was later linked to the cause of a neurological disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome, which can develop after an infection or from a vaccine.

There is a history of rushing vaccines and problems.

I've been reading up on mRNA technology and while pretty darn cool from a science standpoint, ill take my chances of being asymptomatic or having mild symptoms if contracted.

Need a few more years/results in human before my cells are told what to make via a message. That is some interesting shit right there.

Apples and oranges - the polio vaccine is a weakened or diactivated strain of polio. The covid 19 vaccine does not contain the virus in any form but is new technology - the vaccine is mNra the triggers you body to develop antibodies against the virus. - just say n

The Covid vaccine is completely different from the others. We also don't have any long term studies on this vaccine like we do on many others. This vaccine contains different things (mRNA) vs parts of the virus. Apples to oranges.

There have been GRAVE issues in the early days of other vaccines.

So the concern in being early in line is potentially valid depending on your mindset.

Same population that don't get flu shots probably won't get the covid vaccine - not good at ending a pandemic - but leaves more vaccine for those that want it

Are there any numbers out there about the population of people who do not have health problems getting very ill/dying? I know of one healthy person actually getting sick.
I consider myself pretty damn healthy (aside from my weekend whiskey drinks and love for Christmas cookies at the moment). I’ve had some long term issues from testing positive back in July, but it’d be interesting to see those numbers

The point was undesirable results can, have, and does, happen when you rush things.

I get it - can happen with your next jug of milk - the polio thing was a flat out mistake - put live virus in the vaccine - no matter what some people will be allergic to medications - just don 't get the vaccine if you don't trust the science -

I went for a procedure on Fri. while there I asked every doctor and nurse there if they were getting the vaccine... Each and everyone said most definately, in fact we are getting it Monday... If doctors are getting it I feel safe with it...

Someone can trust the science, but science still requires adequate testing. Trusting science and trusting the production process are two different things.

Fun fact. The journal of patient safety estimates that 221,000 to 440,000 people die each year in the US due to preventable medical errors... Aka a doctor killed them. This excludes patients that died as a result of their illness or injury due to substandard care and only accounts for medical errors or mistakes. This is a rate higher than stroke, accidents and alheimers combined.
