They've been bellyaching about that for a week or so. The CFP said the game will happen regardless of who's out. OSU is playing it close to the chest until tomorrow night about who is out. Day said they have some challenges to overcome. Could be hot air though, Bama hasn't released their roster either. Outside of Saban Bama has done pretty good with staying covid free and playing all their games. By the Big 10 rules anyone who tests hot after Jan 1st or something won't make the game. But, we know how the big 10 rules go so we'll see. I'd bet you a shrimp dinner Bama had someone in the airport to see who didn't get on the plane yesterday.
I don't think it will matter unless half the starters are out. Buckeyes have shown depth in nearly every position this year. Losing Fields or Sermon would hurt. Or their kickers maybe? Linebacker, receivers, and line seem to have depth. Losing anyone in the weak secondary would hurt.

Nah. No excuses needed. An illegitimate contender is an illegitimate contender regardless of results. After watching that last game Ohio State may very well be the better team, that doesn't mean they should be playing though. It's like running a marathon but the person in the lead was allowed to start at the half way point with the excuse that the first half of the race wouldn't have changed anything. Nobody can claim that with certainty so there's a validity problem. "Winning" doesn't prove anything if an illegitimate claim like that is allowed to happen. There could only ever be 3 real undisputed winners, the teams that actually ran the whole race and earned the right to be there.
