12:15 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023: 'Yesterday's Archery Hunts'

20231008_080919.jpg

I have not viewed this video myself yet, but I'm about too. I have not shared it with the general public yet, just here until I review it completely. So, you all will have the same opportunity to view it at the same time if you would like. Once I'm finished, I'll determine whether or not to share it further on the channel.

I did hunt the first and last two hours yesterday. The morning hunt was eerily slow, not a thing moved for most of the morning or even made a sound. I did not expect much to happen during that hunt. The evening hunt however, was a completely different.

I did not hunt this morning. but may get out this evening, we'll see. With regards to anything I do deer-wise, or how I go about things, kindly asked those questions right here, on this thread. I'd appreciate it very much, thank you!

If interest in getting into the details, or the nitty gritty of things, kindly feel free to send me a personal message right here, or cellphone text message, or give me a call directly. If you do not have my number, Dave @giles has it.

I admit that I'm not the easiest to get a hold of nowadays, but during the hunting seasons, I believe I spend a fair amount of time right here on the site This is the only place that I participate online socially. That should say a lot about how I care for this place.

I wish all hunters true success this year! Good luck to you!!

Video description:

Some of the photography taken, plus some of the trail camera captures while up in the tree last evening. I'm finally over any shaky nerves now after many close encounters with deer. No arrow took flight last night because I did not see the deer I hoped for even though he remains within the area. I have plans of hunts at different locations over the next week or so. It's the weather conditions that drive where I hunt around our home. There are many acres that I cover over the course of one hunting season typically, and this season should prove to be no different. I love being in the outdoors and everything it has to offer. I spend nearly all my waking hours nowadays outside, weather permitting.

I hunted the first and last two hours of legal hunting time. I got skunked in the morning hunt while everything was very still and woods was super quiet, dead! Later that day, I was back in the same stand with better weather conditions, and the locals came alive just before sunset. I had several deer around me and in the video you get to see the ones that allowed me to film them. I thoroughly enjoyed that hunt! Now I'm ready to start making some moves.

I hope you enjoy today's video and stick around for all the future ones.

Thank you for reading and watching!

Did he bolt away at the end of that video?

The buck went and harassed one of those does and another little buck when he left the feed trough, heading SW towards three different hunting set ups yet to be hunted out of. plus five (5) more as well, also yet to be hunted out of. I also have a climber, blinds and a ladder stand ready to go anywhere anyone sees fit.

9:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2023: 'Yesterday's Archery Evening Hunt'

This evening's sunset and some Autumn's leaves

Yesterday I performed and evening hunt that was rather entertaining. No hunt today and I'm not sure when I get out for the next one. I just completed putting together yesterday's hunt video. Last night, the more mature bucks were rather active and busy. Some of them even showed up this evening.

@giles

Enjoy the latest update.

Have a wonderful evening, 'TOO'ville!

Video description:

Did a two hour evening archery hunt [10/9/23] and four good bucks, including 💎, and perhaps a few more that I couldn't see showed up. I watched the two of the four feed, then all four drink at the creek, socialize, spar and make new tree rubs. All four bedded within 50 yards of me and everything got real quiet afterwards.

Most all of the close encounters were captured on camera. The video does include trail camera images as well while the bucks were in front of me, plus with the antlerless at 'quitting time'.

I did not hunt today and I'm not sure when I'll get out again, maybe this Friday. I've been busy lately.

I hope you enjoy today's video. No arrow took flight. I thoroughly enjoyed the hunt! The buck I'm wanting to see did not show himself during the hunt even though he was in the area. I have several overnight tail camera images of him from last night [10/10/23] making tree rubs and laying down scrapes. I expect him to show up in daylight any day now.

On to the next hunt.

Thank you for reading and watching!

I have not hunted since last Thursday. Pulled memory cards yesterday and I'm putting together a little something special. More for probably me, but when finished, I'll post it here.

Next hunt may be tomorrow if I get the wind I need.

Fingers 🤞 , goodnight 😴

A few more for tonight since I was distracted heavily by something.
-----------------------------
FYI - the prerut is been happening around here. Very active at night the past 3 or 4 days now.
----------------------------
Does this 🦌 look familiar to anyone? It's been a while since I shared him last.

'Junior' antlers obviously has taken the brunt of the negative impact of that arrow injury from last November. He's been showing up again lately, along with a couple of others that aren't daily regulars, such as 'TANK' and 'LEFTY'.

Anyway, I'm glad to see him back. I hope that he survives another year. I believe his rack will recover eventually, much like 'LEFTY's' did, which took his at least two years to recover where it looks somewhat decent/normal.

A couple of 'TANK' during the last time I hunted, last Thursday evening. He walked right underneath me right at 'quitting time'. I watched him feed and lay down a scrape. If he was just a tad bit sooner, I would have taken him.

10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2023: 'NO HUNT TODAY, Wrong wind'

@giles - Some additional confirmation of typical midmorning 🦌 movement at the other farm 🚜 this morning, as usual.

Just need to sneak in there and get ourselves one or two, whenever you're ready 😃

Real slow 🐌 😴 around here today. So, I decided to take care of a couple issues.

1000019553.gif

While there, I saw 👀 [5] five football size scrapes underneath the Honeysuckle edges around the 🌽

1000019551.jpg

There's also an abundance amount of Black Locust seed pods underneath each 🌳 there that the 🦌 ❤️

IDK 🤷‍♂️ what the heck the black ⚫️ round thing is in the photo collage.

1000019552.jpg

So, the 'Western Stand' should be nearly on 🔥 daily, covered with 🦌 over the next month hopefully, for somebody 😅

Again, no hunt for me today. I wish to have a more southerly wind in order to get back to where I want to be. So, it ain't happening today 😕

Good luck to anyone that gets out this evening!

👌 He's still there. This is up to 8:00 p.m.

@giles - He's up and will soon be on the prowl/seeking, after a ✔️ of a scrape or two, or three or four, maybe all five 😉

Good times are straight ahead 😃

Goodnight!

Need daylight! Or at least good light for a kid.

That'll happen. Remember the rains. He's more of a daylight buck than probably all the others too. This is a big place. He's walking around in daylight somewhere, just not in front of my TCs all the time.

@giles - 1,250 acres that you two will have access to. Last night, 'Diamond' stepped in front of a TC three different time periods, showing him either eating, harassing the antlerless, tending to scrapes and then some.

You are more than welcome to hunt out any of my stands or still hunt or we can set things up wherever you and Levi care to hunt. I'll help in anyway you see fit. You two will have pretty much free reigns to the whole place. This is a tough place to hunt, more so than most places I've ever hunted for deer, but I have no concerns that the both of you will see some good deer when out.

Again, this is a big place, and there is more than just deer too. This is the kind of place to learn a lot about deer, no question about it. Deer signs are all over the place. I know how the groups travel and when typically. I will provide daily briefings of the latest information of the area, weather included.

I wanted to put this out there for you two. This area offers' up many different opportunities for different type of hunting styles/methods/tactics for anyone.

There will be more specific pre-information offered up daily as well.

I hope this broadens the mind a bit more for you. Other than that, I wish you two a great day!

Take care,
Denny

10:15 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2023: 'Evening Archery Deer Hunt'

20231015_184411.jpg

Video description:

It's been nearly a full week since I hunted last and the weather today was much better than it has been lately, so I decided to get out for a quick two hour evening hunt. This video contains all the deer that I either saw or heard this evening. All of them got within bow range at one point or another, however only a couple offered up any kind of a shot opportunity. Besides, I was not interested in harvesting any antlerless deer off this property for this year due to the EHD outbreak from last year. The number of antlerless is down quite a bit, so I am hopeful that we'll see more of them next year in the area.

Although no arrow took flight this evening, I still thoroughly enjoyed being back in the stand. I had fun!

Thank you for reading & watching! I hope you enjoy today's hunt video.

On to the next hunt.

He was the 1st to show up two hours later after I left this evening :giggle: This 🦌 always gets busy in the rain 🌧 it seems like. Go back through the posts of him, and you should see a pattern. Several TC captures of him tonight 🌙 in the heavy 🌧
