Yeeep, gonna need a closer look at him from the gambrel. 
No too shabby after all. I have a bunch of blurry pics of this deer, so it's nice to get a good one. I've never killed a clean 10 before, so he'd help me solve that little issue.
The bucks are always healthy out there, but the genetics pale in comparison to the glory days of 2005-2015. Shooting big bodied bucks is fun regardless. Who doesn't love a bigger target when the pressure is on!
I could tell for 5 days now that I'd be bummed about missing tonight's sit...
His loop is pretty obvious now and he's killable. Unfortunately, upon further review, I think he's only 3 and deserves to see another fall if he can pull it off. Probably leave it as a game time decision, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed by that daylight pic.
It appears Fat Boy got himself into a scrap and came up a bit short on the exchange. That's gonna save his life if he strolls in front of me.

We've had this talk. Just checking to see how far off the ground your feet are.Even keel buddy. Just sharing my thoughts at the time of receipt. I've grown beyond letting my cams dictate my enjoyment of the sport

I couldn't sit here today because of the wind, but it might be helpful for tonight's hunt.
Well, I'm glad I didn't shoot him Wednesday for a couple reasons, but primarily because he's moved into the top spot for 2022 if he'll stay put and stay alive. He could be something special in his own right!
Not very often you feel lucky to have missed a deer, but I'm glad I missed this guy and sure hope we can meet up again next year!
Gonna print this one off and add it to the Hall of Fame. I've contemplated a stand in this area for years, but it's a tough place to hunt with the swirling winds and elevation advantages the deer can get, but there was enough daylight movement here to justify finding a way to hunt it.
Don't hang a stand and mess it up. Hunt it the way you did again if needed. Something totally different about being at ground level. I sat in a tree last weekend one morning and never got real excited. I do from the ground over EVERY deer.
You made your own luck by being smart and getting out of stands when things weren't right. Used the cameras to your advantage along with what you seen/heard. Wind and thermals and every other battle that comes with hills. Then...you struck and shit happened. Don't go hang a stand in this perfect spot. It's perfect because you and the deer know it's hard to in it. I wouldn't chance changing anything with a stand. Because then you have to maintain it and everything else. This all means pressure and you've learned what that does.
After typing all this, I feel like maybe I read that wrong and just went off the deep end. OH well, lol!

What's funny is I sat in a ground blind here on Veteran's Day 2006 from dark to dark and didn't see a deer. That's back when there wasn't any cover and now, it's thicker than a snickers down there. I almost hung there on Friday because the sign was so good, but I knew where I wanted to be and kept walking. I could definitely hide a blind here and it would probably be more effective than a stand.
