Blew the gobbler off the roost walking in. I've never seen him roost in that corner.

I heard him or another gobbling as the hens roosted around where i eventually sat down at woke up. He headed away from me, so i got up and moved. His gobbles were moving towards another stand of woods. I moved to the far end but the side of them. No further sounds since.

Played with one early. He was never overly hot. Only gobbled 3 times on the ground going down the hollow below me. Heard several others way off but all is quiet now. Got a guy coming with a skid steer mulcher today to clean up stumps around the house and make the woods there like a park. He’s also going to create a 1 acre food plot back in one of the clear cut areas.

Didn't even set the clock last night.. Put the dog out at 10, wind was blowing and flurries in the air.. Nope,, I hunt to enjoy my time in the woods... Besides when it's cold I never hear many birds...

Let the dogs out around 6:15. Heard one gobbling over the rise in the field so I put all my shit on and bolted for the opposite side of the field so I wouldn't booger him. Got set up... made some calls. He answered right away so I went silent. He gobbled for the next hour and a half in a giant circle around me. I could hear him down in the woods as he circled me. Last I heard him he had made his way behind me down in the creek bottom. I made some more calls and he would answer, but he was along way off. Gave it some time, but he never came any closer. I'm now drinking coffee and watching the field from my kitchen window. He still hasn't shown up. LOL

Havn't been out much been slammed at work but had a good hunt this morning.
Heard 2 early and had one at 40 yards bit wouldnt come any closer.
Around 8:45 i heard one gobbling and at 9:15 him and a jake came in, he gave me a 5 yard shot with the Widow, took off running a little wobbly but then took off flying...i walked about 60 yds and could hear him trying to take off out of a tree and he hit the ground dead.
That was some funny shit.

Raining Long Beards!!!!!
Good stuff Brian..

I had a great hunt, spent over 90 minutes within 60yrds of a vocal tome that loved to spit and drum, with 2 hens. I did everything right until I pulled the trigger... 45yrds was to far for the gun I took. Man that was one of my favorite hunts with out a mess, Right Brock?
Tyler, Spencie's boy, told me that "The best hunt is to call a Loudmouth in and miss him so you can do it all over again"! Sounds good to me..

Had a great morning today. Worked a bird for nearly 2 hours. He came a long way and circled around me. He was spitting and drumming, gobbling and strutting in the middle of a gas well road for quite awhile staying about 50-60 yds from me. I've killed them that far in the past but I choose not to try him. I just enjoyed the show and was happy to get to work another bird this season....
Heard another bird in "Addy's spot" at daylight. We were in there yesterday and heard nothing there...figures.
Plan to try again tomorrow if not raining and Addy said she's going so hopefully we can find her one...

Shot this 19-1/2lber tonight as he was going to the roost. 12" beard, 1-3/8" spurs. Shot him with my grandpa's '97 Winchester. Had him figured out and sat up on him Wednesday evening. Wouldn't ya know a trespassing shroom hunter and the farmer spraying the fields screwed that up. Next chance was tonight. He started gobbling at 8pm and I shot him at 8:15.
