It’s definitely got me thinking, buddy. Not just about fire hazards, but now also water related hazards. We can never be too thorough in our preparedness and attention to detail regarding hazards to our families and especially our young children. So thank you.Yup, I know you guys have my back. I know a guy...One of these days I’m going too have too try some of that!
Wife and I went to dinner and were driving by an old friends house and noticed it had burned down within the last couple days. His dad lives next door so we stopped in and ended up talking to his brother about it all. Guess he forgot something was on the stove and got busy trying to help his dad and it caught fire. Total loss on everything. Insurance was covering everything and even had him set up at a hotel north of there til the house gets rebuilt.
From what his brother said he was set up well. The hotel he is at is real nice and he has a view of the St. Clair River and Canada, same as what he has at his home. Sounds like everything is covered completely but will learn more when I actually chat with him about it all. Been a couple years since we sat down and had a few. He has gone through a lot over the years. A year younger than me and about 10 years ago he had a bad stroke. Really messed him up and in the meantime he ended up losing his dream home he built. Home was incredible. His dad owned a lot next door to him up by the river that he ended up giving to him so he could have a small house built on it, the one that burned down. A few years before that the youngest brother (of 3) was killed on a tree trimming job, they removed big trees from people's yards. Talk about a family that has been through everything but would still give you the shirt off of their backs.Your freind should check his policy to see if he has a clause in it for fire.
Staying in hotel was horrible for me had two dogs and 9month old baby.
Was really depressing. At that time ya oil and gas around people coming in hammered all through the night . (I get it)
anyhow we had a clause that we had so much we could spend on rent also they have to put you in a house that is comparable to the one ya lived in.
Our insurance tried putting us in houses in middle of town places I wouldn’t even have been able to put my tools so small..
That ended fast I told them there’s no way in fugg I’m not even going in house.
The sad part is there’s not a lot out there to help people when they have a fire to know their rights.
We ended up with a decent rental off the beaten path.
insurance wanted to skimp at every turn.
anyhow they have to put you up in a place comparable to what your house was like.
Ours tried hard not to but knowing your rights and policy helps.
True statement right there. Just remember, we got your back, Jack!My bosses parting words today "it takes more than a beard and truck to be a man. You sir, are a man. You got this"
