Hey Bro, look in the frozen meat section at Meijers. They are having a sale on butterballs. Lol.

Just kidding Bro, I know you've been hunting hard. You are getting some experience and learning a lot for next year. Having the time to go, is the most important factor. With work, family and other obligations hamper our time in the woods.

Hey Aaron, pm me when you get the chance?

Not yet Huck. I work nights and only have the weekend left. Last weekend was Mothers Day and I stayed around the house with her and the family. This weekend I don't think there are any obligations so I will be hunting till sunset.

Well I wanna be the first to wish ya good luck this weekend buddy. If anybody deserves to kill a big ole longbeard it's you. Give em hell.

I agree with Ricer. Ric has paid his dues hard last year and this year. He deserves a turkey if anyone does. Best of luck Ric!

Ric..Just my two cents. I am by no means an expert turkey hunter or even close to it but I will share how I watched 4 longbeards hit the dirt this year. Two I killed and two I watched be killed this way. They were not killed by great calling or patience, but by being a little aggressive. I know you are Mr. Patience and will put in ungodly hours waiting one out, lol, but sometimes being a lil aggressive can go a long way. As long as you know the terrain.
Today I was setting decoys out and heard one gobble about 200 yards off. I had to decide to sit tight or make a move to get closer. I took off after him. I ran down the open field, tip toed through the woods and crawled to the field edge. As I peeked out of the thick cover there he was with his harem of hens about 50 yards away in the field strutting. I perked up to a shooting position and blasted him. It all happened in less then 5 minutes. Had I stayed back and called sparingly, the hens likely would of took him away. Instead I made a move and had one down quicker than I could of imagined. Don't be afraid to make a move on em. If you get busted, so what? It is a lot of fun to try and it can work. I have enjoyed your thread this year and I wish you the best of luck this weekend!!! Again....just something to think about buddy. Have fun!

Thanks buddy! Pretty dang good advise! Awesome picture Marcus....just awesome! Congrats on a great year TOO.

I will definitely try this and also what Joe suggested as well. I know of several places they like to cross thru gaps so I might be able to ambush one. I have yet to see a jake which is a first for me in 3 years of turkey hunting. Just though that was interesting since I have had so many hens in my area during these three seasons.

Got the great news that Aaron and Ron killed a 2-3 year old this morning alittle after 9. It fired me up and rolled me out of bed and I'm currently sitting in a humid brushy draw getting ready to do alittle light calling.

Saw one hen feeding across the field from where I'm sitting so far. No turkey vocals as of yet...

Hang in there, Ric. At least you're hunting! I made it out this morning -sorta. I haven't been out since opening day due to hurting my back, haven't been able to walk. So today I rode my four wheeler within a hundred yds of a known roosting area. I gimped on in and managed to call up a jake @ 7. Between the mosquitos and pain in my back I quit early and was home by 8. Still, I got out! Didn't hear a single gobble though...

On behalf of Ron and Aaron, thanks Brock. Just a side note, the big "Wolf Oak" behind Ron was/is a special place for Ron,Dad and I. Lots of memories are associated with that old tree. We buried some of dads ashes right in front of where Ron is sitting so I'm sure dad is enjoying Ron's special moment as well.

I haven't heard or seen anything so far so I'm gonna slip over to another spot and call then repeat this till I stir up a bird. Gotta get aggressive...hope it pans out.

Made my way over to my cam in the middle of a 300 yard finger. Swapped the cards(4 videos) and decided to sit here a spell. Wouldn't it be awesome to kill a bird on film....solo/TC style!?!...Dreaming I guess. Lol

I have gotten some toms on video cutting thru here on more than several occasions though, at all times of the day.
