Good luck Ric. Get some sleep brother.

I know buddy! I could be 4 hours into a dang nice slumber right now and by noon be halfway done mowing my wet hayfield of a yard but just know I can't kill a bird if I ain't hunting for a bird. Lol

Trying to be as patient and relentless as I can with these damn ugly things but they aren't very cooperative. Lmao

Gonna give it a little while longer then I'm packing it in. TOO much to do before the rain that's expected to come later and work. Ugh

Stuck it out till 8:50. Didn't even see a turkey or hear one close by was is the first time that has happened. Had great vantage with 250 yards of corn stubble in front of me. That same field is 120 yards wide with nice traveling corridors(wooded fingers) on both sides. The gobbles all seemed to be across the road or across the creek but I've called them across several times before but today wasn't one of those days I guess.

Good luck to those who are hunting today. I'm headed to bed while the dew on my yard dries off.....zzzzzzzzz.

Got 4 hours sleep and got the yard mowed and swept up. I'm just glad to get that done! Sleeping in tomorrow morning and might go out before work in the afternoon but severe thunderstorms are expected most of the day...dang.

You inspired me to get back out Ric. Starting late today with work due to the rain. Might as well get up earlier and turkey hunt before work. Settled in and waiting. Dang these skeeter! Forgot about Thermacell.

It's crazy how high the sun was at 8 this morning. You'd have thought it was near 10 o'clock!

Switched things up a bit and started later this morning. As I eased my way down the fields edge walking amid the dew soaked weeds I was questioning myself if this is going to change my luck. Time will tell I guess...

Anyway after reaching the bottom edge and not hearing a peep I round the corner and glance back up the rolling freshly tilled cornfield and see two birds about 80 yards up. One laying down and the other standing near facing away. I froze wanting to reach for my binos but knew I'd be busted if I did. They must have sensed something wasn't right and started walking straight away. Once they dropped over the next dip I made my way quietly to my tree. I did hear a hen down in the creek bottom behind me as I walked to my set.

What a cool beautiful morning to be hunting. Hoping this high pressure blue bird morning gets me some late morning action. All is quiet for now and I hope I didn't spook the birds too much on my way in. We'll see...

Had a small buck enter the field 15 yards off to my right. Wind was in both of our faces so he didn't wind me. I got my phone ready to snap a pic if he walked out in front of me but he went the other direction. Dang

Been doing some light calling every 30 minutes or so with no responses so far.

Hang in there. Alex shot one Sunday at like 12:45.. We hunted all morning with nothing but a close call with a Tom to show for it. We went up to the front of the property and sat along a fence that had been bushogged. We couldn't sit so we could see down the lane but had to sit back in the brush a bit. After about a 30 min nap Alex said he was going to crawl up and look out and call.. He came scampering back and grabbed his gun, went back, BOOM.. there we're 4 toms at 10 yards down the lane, not a peep from any of them. Get where they like to go and hunt em like deer.

Called it quits for the day....ugh!

Saw some birds but too far off to tell what they were. Not much movement...kinda like "lock down" during deer season. Lmao
