Food, what are you eating?

Many of the books referenced in this thread discuss how "bad" pasta is in that it fills you up with a ton of calories but is then gone (doesn't maintain satiety). Never noticed it until last night; my wife made a garlic shrimp pasta. I ate a reasonable portion, and then about an hour later I felt incredibly hungry and desiring carbs and sweets. I hadn't ever noted that reaction but hadn't had hardly any pasta since starting my journey.

Pork chop, seasoned bread crumbs, pan fried lard. Ate 2, feel very full and comfortable.

Anyone remember when I used to laugh at people calling deer meat all natural? I think i have beat it into enough people's head that the eating of GMO crops has effected our deer herds. Looking at the hooves of @bowhunter1023 buck proves that IMO. I also think it had played a roll in the reproduction of the deer. All this thinking started as I learned about all this stuff and how it works on humans.

Not sure where I'm going with this, just trying to stimulate thought. I've argued with no one but myself over this subject for a long time.

I guess I'm on week whatever of eating cleaner. I've "cheated" here and there, always too much regret in the form of feeling like shit and inflammation. It's not really a "personal choice" to eat clean anymore, more of a "I just don't want it" type of situation. I'm hesitant to say it comes naturally now, but it's mostly effortless. Thinking back to most of the things I used to eat they all seem pretty unappealing, make no mistake I could still eat it, and it would probably be good, but I just don't care for it like I used to. I'm down 20lbs and feeling great.

Funny story, my wife ate what I ate last night. A bacon-wrapped filet, and a large portion of grilled zucchini, carrots, and onions. Cooked in grass-fed butter. 2 hours later she was complaining that she was starving more now than she was before dinner. I politely explained that's because her body was accustomed to running on processed carbs and sugars. There's no reason that meal shouldn't provide the energy required to run the human body. I was fine, she was about to eat the doors off the kitchen pantry. Been there honey, it gets easier. 🤣

Pork rinds. :D Who knew that the most redneck hillbilly snack food of all time could be a staple of eating keto friendly. I've been snacking on them in various flavors, breading fish, squirrel, chicken and pork chops with ground up seasoned pork rinds. This is not just an "adequate" substitute for panko. It is really good. Dinner tonight was pan fried in beef tallow salmon burgers (wild caught frozen salmon burgers from Costco) and loaded cheesy cauliflower casserole.

I actually added them to a meatloaf and it was really good….

Highly recommend Pork King Good pork rinds. You can get them on Amazon, but even our local IGA carries them. Pounded a whole bag of sour cream and onion the other night.

Well, I fucked up. Tonight it was just me and my youngest. He loves the local Chinese buffet and we haven't been in a really long time. What the hell why not, I like the place, one meal won't hurt.

I was elbow-deep in my third plate of egg rolls, yellow rice, fried shrimp, cheese with imitation crab, spicy beef and broccoli, and beef lo mein when my vision got screwy. I wouldn't say I was dizzy, but my eye tracking wasn't right, like a floating feeling where I would turn my head to look at something and it was like my eyes took a couple of seconds to catch up. I thought, shit this is going to be embarrassing because I'm about to take a floor nap right here in the Chinese buffet.

I stopped eating and got really really thirsty and drank two big glasses of ice water. After a bit I was back to normal for the most part. I called a nurse friend on the way home and talked to her about it. "You haven't had processed carbs or sugar in over a month. And you thought face fucking three plates of Chinese food was a good idea, you spiked your blood sugar and went hyperglycemic dumbass"

And just so there was no miscommunication between me and the universe, this was my fortune cookie. A proverbial "I did that shit on purpose bro" from the universe.

Man!!! I’m not shitting you… I was just telling my wife the same thing at dinner tonight. I’ve been feeling the exact same thing with my vision for the past few days. I had a suspicion that it was due to my falling off the healthy-eating wagon last week at deer camp. Maybe it’s true! I’ve not quite felt like myself the last two days. Is that what they refer to as the keto flu?… since I’ve just reverted back to the no-carb eating?

Let’s be real though… It was worth it though wasn’t it, Joe? Chinese Buffet is probably one of my biggest temptations in this world from a food standpoint. 😂😂😅

Not sure what would cause it going back to healthy eating. But likely some form of normalization process I would guess.

It was good, tasted great, I was killing it. I wasn't looking forward to passing out though. It's been 25 years since I passed out and woke up on the floor with a mama-san standing over me with a disapproving look. 🤣
