Here’s a pic of that huge spike that came through last Saturday. In the pic I can see that he has small brows, so he’s a four point but from 60 yards broadside it looked like a spike to me. Got another pic of a real nice buck (posting it on the January trail cam pic thread) that hopefully comes out this afternoon or Monday.

My first post since joining the group. I have been reading the threads the last couple of months since finding this site in late Oct. I really enjoyed seeing other people's pics of their stands and blinds. Some nice deer taken and while other's were having luck, I had none this past fall. Lost some private land about 2 years ago and was on the public land toughing it against the Dutches. I had my chances but failed to execute.

Well, today was the day and I am happy to have my first post showing how the many hours since Oct have finally paid off. Felt funny posting pics/comments when I didn't have any this year. I got permission to hunt some private land right before bonus weekend and spent that weekend and muzzle loader, mostly scouting the land. That Sunday, I put a pile of acorns, some old apples along with a mineral rock on a stump. I came back today, I was able to harvest this doe. I was in the tree stand and when I shot her, I thought it made a strange noise on impact. She went down right away and I could the arrow sticking out of her. It was less than a 30 yard shot so I sat there wondering how that happened. When I got down to get her and pulled the arrow out, there was only half of it. I found the other half laying in the snow and then realized after looking at the tree that I hit it. The arrow went through and hit the tree and I think it exploded because the top half was just laying on the snow and not under her. You can see the arrow sticking out in the pic. Anyway, so excited to fill the freezer and can't wait until next year. I will be sure to post some pics from my stand and blinds next season.

Will see what the wind does. I’m sure the deer are searching for the cut corn scraps but not feeling like a free roller coaster ride in the tree

Take your mobile set up and find a place tucked out of the wind. South facing slope. Take it slow so you don’t sweat or spook anything. I’m sure this will be one of those days they move around all day. Probably won’t go far, but they’ll have to eat today.
