Michael and I decided on a last minute buddy hunt. Seen a good one bedded down while we were walking down the road. Bumped a buck and a doe trying to get in a position to get a better look at him.
Lost track of him and wind was terrible. Blowing directly at them down in a little hole. Decided to move at that point to a better vantage point and gather info. Ended up face to face with him. He never really freaked out but left the area. Nothing crazy impressive, just a beautiful 8.
Then a couple of does cam by and hung out for the rest of the hunt. Micheal looked across the road and spotted a giant on the next ridge over.
Daughter and I made it out for a little bit when she got of the bus. Didn't get to blind till 430 and got busted by 3 does as soon as we got to it. We did however have a 130 class buck trailing a doe at 40yds, first buck she's seen while hunting. Needless to say we're gonna be after them in the morning hopefully he'll still be in our block of woods.
I seen mama doe in heat, buck were no where around that time. I had buck decoy sitting out, and button buck came to it…psh, where’s your big brother, homie. 5:50 pm time was up. I was packing up in my blind and something told me to look up before I’d got up…. There was same ole big doe 5 yards on other side of me but her side of property.
No shots heard this morning. So far my youngest has passed on a small 4 point yearling and four does… the little propane heater my father in law bought for the kids for the blind is kick ass!!!
4 antlerless so far. The one in the pic above was the first to pop out from the SE, nearest to my other stand . A big doe that got to be within @25yrds eventually of me. 3 others also came from the SE, trotting through the South field, headed West in a hurry. IDK if all 4 got bumped by other hunters or possibly a buck. They all seemed to be stresssed and on alert. The 2 big does continued to the West, leaving the property while the other 2 young ones turned back around and sprinted back to where they originally came from. All 4 were out of the area by 7:30 a.m.
No shots fired as of yet, and no antlers seen as well.
