I had enough time to rush over for a scouting trip, but not enough for a hunt. So I rushed over to park on the road and glass.

Last Friday I seen a pretty good buck. In range but I couldn't calm myself down enough to make it happen. The spot is terrible to sneak in to (if yall remember how windy it was). I had an idea I knew where he was heading and I was right. I confirmed that this evening.

GREAT news, right? Well, while I was waiting the farmer (literally, across the street) stopped and I chatted with him. He informed me as to why I wasn't see the amount of deer I normally do. He found 22 dead deer in the corn field when he took it off.

I don't even think I smiled when that buck walked out after hearing that. I had just text some guys that I had just become a trophy hunter and then he stepped out. The mixed emotions are real right now. I've had the crazy want to kill a good one this year with a gun. So maybe he spread enough of his seed...idk🤷🏽‍♂️

Haven’t been out in what seems like a month. Kids aren’t interested, and I haven’t been either. Two decent bucks have been daylighting the last two days in a row and I think they’re roamers. Gonna take a swing at a couple considering the big guy I’ve been chasing has been mia for almost 2 and a half weeks… we shall see what happens! Happy thanksgiving to all of you TOOzers

A different day, another different good buck encounter @theotherfarm.

I hunted this evening from 4:00PM until dark. I had to swap the SD card and batteries for the cell-cam just before I climbed up into my tree. Once settled, I saw the first deer right at 5:09PM, which was a mature doe that came from the big pines. She eventually stepped out into the picked cornfield and began feeding/grazing roughly 15 yards within the field, then turned towards to the bottom of the cup area, or towards me while feeding still, near the woods, but remaining well inside the cornfield the entire time, or until dark. I was going to harvest her if she ever presented any kind of an excellent opportunity, but she did not.

Two minutes later after she first stepped out, a decent mature 8 point buck also steps out into the cornfield, coming from the same location as what the doe did, and begins tracing her steps while grazing as well. No aggressive behavior displayed initially, but he did push her a round a couple of times at the end, but no major harassment. Then he eventually, and quite casually made his way right to me, and stops broadside at 15 yards for several minutes.

Yeaper, I could have easily shot and killed him right there, but I didn't because he's not the one I'm after. Still a good buck none the less, just not the one I'm hoping to harvest off this property this year.

Those were the only two deer I saw this evening, and both got to be within bow range at one point or another. No arrow ever took flight though.

So, I'll be back at it again real soon.

Good night all!

Sorry for the delay guys I had a pretty steep pack out of that spot. I know he may not look like a whole lot but killing a buck in the Georgia mountains can be a challenging yet rewarding adventure. I was fortunate to get to take this guy this morning with my savage 220. He has been packed out of the woods and is on ice chilling now. What an amazing morning in the woods.
