Where did you hit him with your first two shots, once, twice? Since he bedded up that close, and very little blood, I'm guessing gut area?

The first shot was a miss. The second did hit further back than I would have liked. The deer was quartering away and down hill. The slug caught a little of the hind quarter and burried somewhere in the opoosite side. There was no exit wound. The high entrance and no exit left little to no blood or any other fluid trail.
