Sounds like a great day J! I'm hoping to get out one day next week and do some kayak fishing. It's been two months since I've been. Just haven't had the time!

Buddy and I hit the hot spot ponds tonight and did 31 largemouth (17 for him, me 14) in 2.5 hours. Had a blast. Spoils you for catching 'em in the "wild" but it was a great time.

I've been hitting McComb Resvoir lately in the boat and picking up some nice Saugeye every time. Just trolling Erie Deeries or crawler harnesses slowly right tight to the shoreline. Watching weather now to see if I'm able to get over there tonight. This cool weather sure has got the fish moving shallow again

Mom called me this morning to let me know they were heading to the lake. I've been pretty good at getting some honey-do's out of the way the last few days, so I told her I'd hunt them down when I got there. Shortly after meeting up, Dad caught a nice 'eye. I went hunting for perch, and to my surprise, found them in 2' of water! There were seemingly NONE in the deeper holes you'd expect to find them in, and for some reason Rocky Fork's weedbeds are nearly non-existent these days. Perch fishing was a LOT easier when there were well-defined weed lines to fish! I did manage to get some nice ones and meant to give them to Mom and Dad...but I dropped 'em all back in the lake while trying to pass them over to their boat! :)

Funny you say that, Aaron. He wouldn't even fish anymore if it weren't for the fact my mom drags him to the lake. Having said that, I think he was glad to have finally boated the biggest fish of the day - Mom always has that honor. Then again, they are still fishing, so she may still catch one larger!

Once upon a time, just a few years ago, I could catch these guys by the bucket full out of Rocky Fork. The lake has changed dramatically over the last few years, and catching perch of keeping size has become a real chore. I got a few yesterday in really shallow water, so I went back for a couple hours this afternoon. I think I may have found a tactic to get back into the "bucketful" type fishing! I kept about 20, all between 10 and 11". Some pretty nice perch for our little mudhole fishery, and I'm glad to be back "on 'em". The fish pictured was caught on the first cast, that's always a good sign!

Looks like they had a blast! There is nothing that beats a farm pond for fast and plentiful action!

Brock, it's great to see the pictures of your parents out there! Way to put them on the fish!

Aaron, it looks like your kids had a good time, and caught some nice gills as well!

Greg, I can't take any credit for Mom and Dad... Mom could find fish in a septic tank. :). I am however going to St Clair this weekend on a perch scouting/smallmouth catching trip for Mom. If I find a bunch of big perch, I'm sure she will be there before month's end. She's the only person I know that likes to fish as much as me! Since their retirement they have moved into a condo. There is a small lake on the grounds. Dad said the first thing she asked when buying the condo was "What will you be stocking in the lake?" :)

Mason and I beat Mom and Dad to the lake today. We had 17 perch 10" and over when they arrived. We had to go shortly after their arrival, so we transferred them to Mom's livewell and went home. I hope she has 100 by now! We caught every one on small spinners today.

Those are nice smallies, Seth! We are going the St Clair on Sunday - hoping to find a few of our own.
