Ohio Turkey Hunting Report

Don't think I've ever had a year like this turkeys tight lipped I know there around I've seen them but I've been out 4/times now and not heard a gobble. Rains moved out but still foggy here.

Birds gobbled good here . Surprised with conditions . Didn't wanna work off the roost . But they stayed Gobbling on the ground . They started moving Gobbling occasionally and we got ahead of em enough . 2 longbeards came in but started skirting us at 40-45 yds . My buddy found a lane and killed one dead . I have more fun watching em get shot sometimes I think.

Woke up with the first, second, and third alarms I had set. Still managed to oversleep. Been running on fumes. Guess my body knew I needed sleep more than one meal I would get out of a turkey. Lol

I dabbled in turkey hunting at AEP this weekend. Heard very little gobbling. But I imagine a few hundred people running around up there will do that...

I got a meal out of one of the breasts, still have another in the freezer[emoji38]

Gobbling on the roost like mad. Probably 100-200 from 3 different directions. Pitched down around 645-700. Had a decoy out today. They seemed skittish of it. One pitched down 100yds or so away and wasn't interested. 3 came out of woods several hundred yards away or more. The solo bird to show up first ran them all over. Eventually he left and the 3 of them made their way towards me. They also stayed out 80-100yds. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I feel the decoy helped get them closer but then scared them off. I need to learn how to bring them in closer in open country.

Maybe I'm not concealing myself well enough? I don't know. In a different spot now where I had a good encounter on Saturday about this time of morning. No decoy last time. Trying the decoy this time. In close quarters. Set up in the woods.

Mason and I went before school. Waited to hear one on the roost. We heard nothing. He was ten minutes late to school. One of the ladies in the office asked, "Did you need a little extra sleep this morning?" I answered unashamedly, "Nope, been turkey hunting" Hehe

Wife and daughter went shopping. Getting in a evening sit. Much needed to clear the head. It never failed to see a flock of 20 or more turkeys every time I sat in a deer stand on this land. We'll see what happens now. I wudnt mi d seeing one roost. So I can just come back in the morning.

Have had five deer sighted. O e was a group of four that got interested in the decoys. Came into about 70 yds. Before they decided they didn't like what they saw.

Glad to hear you made it out. Maybe you can use that shotgun on another groundhog while you're out. Ha

Ended up seeing a total of 11 deer, and no turkeys. I know I can't get that to happen this November. Saw two different bachelor groups of three each, after the first groups left.

Some gobbling on roost couple hundred yards north and south of me. I can see a long way. I see no turkeys. I hear no turkeys. Time to go find myself some turkeys. So much for the high hopes I had walking in. I do have my Ghost Blind with me today. No decoys.
