Well I worked late to tonight got home and ran across the street to check the cam I put on a big ground scrape. I walk up can't see the cam so I'm looking around as I get closer I see it on the ground I walk up open it and the damn SD card is gone. Instantly pissed. I think I know who it was since they just picked the beans and the owner had a couple guys helping him that wanted to hunt but he told them no cuz we already hunt it. So I talked to the owner that I'm pretty good buddys with and I politely told him if I found out it was those two guys I was gonna knot there damn heads. He said he would take care of it. But damn I'm still heated.

Checked my cams this weekend. The tree farm shows a couple really good bucks. My property has a decent on, but always has better ones show up. Pretty excited to hit the woods this weekend and next week.

On to the pics....

Honestly, I would just like an opportunity this year. Last yr, I never got one with how they ran past me, or were too far out, or it was too dark. Just a shot at a decent one is all I ask....

I would love to see you get an opportunity as well. I have had many in bow range this year. Unfortunately, the shot opportunities have all been at small bucks, yearlings, or properties without doe hunting permission. I botched the one opportunity I had. aaarrghh!

Good luck out there to those of you hunting. Hope your SD card shows up Big Ten. At least they didn't steal the camera.

I fought off sleep after work this morning and went out, just making into the stand at 7:25 am. At 8 I had 2 does take a trail 25 yards behind me. They were sorta in a hurry, so I was hoping a buck was following, but no such luck. Then at 9:30 they came back but right underneath me at 10 yards. I gave them a pass. Hoping they'll draw in the big boys soon. My buddy was spraying fertilizer ver winter wheat yesterday at the other end of the property and watched a nice 140"split brow 10pt bedding with a doe just inside the woods. He said they never moved. Kinda makes me think we're further along than I knew. And damn, I've about hit 3 different big bucks on my way in, or way home from work in the last week.

Dang Ryan, sounds almost like the 140" 10 has a doe pinned down already! What time did you almost hit these mature bucks on the road? I've always been a firm believer that most of the breeding is done at night even though I've got to see it from my stand twice my entire life. Once was on a brushy point at about 10 am and the other was about 4:30 pm on a bench in a big hollar. Both were within bow range but no shot and both were very nice 10 points in the 135-145 inch range. After the "one penal thrust" as Bob McGuire would say, they never left the does side and still were running off other smaller bucks trying to get sloppy seconds. The entitlement or ownership seems to linger abit after the deed is done! I wonder though, at what point do these mature bucks say, "Have at it fellas, there ain't no bottom left to it and I'm needing some strange!"lmao

I havent seen any bucks doing any chasing or anything. I havent even seen them in daylight. Not even a small one. It sucks! I have seen alot more road kills lately though. So they are moving.

Hunted from the ground today. Slid in with a doe bedded 40yds away and didn't spook her. Got to full draw on her at one point as she was up and moving. She veered off the path she was on. Lucky for her. Started to rain. Still hunted my way to the camera cards. Came within 20yds of a bedded buck. Good thing his spikes were over 3". I would have killed him otherwise. lol

Swapped cards to find nothing overly exciting. On my way I managed to find the buck we were looking for last week. Guessing mid 130's 8pt. The coyotes have been feasting. Hunter was happy to have the rack but it was a bittersweet celebration. Good day overall. Went back in tonight and setup a ground blind. I think I am going to call it the meat locker. Hoping to get my boy onto his first deer kill here. Lots of does in the area.
