Had a 2.5 yr old 8 pt push a big mature doe into my set up this morning. They caught me mid rattling around 9am. He was on her hard and she was a mess.

I agree with Brock, if your not seeing action you're in the wrong spot.

Cant wait to get the pics up myself lol!!! Wife is at work and has the camera. Mother nature flipped the switch and the rut was on yesterday. Seen three differant bucks all with swollen necks. Missed a eight pointer in the morning that was closer than i thought. Had corn husks hanging from his rack. Went back out in the afternoon and at 3:30 seen a beautiful eightpointer standing on the edge of a field in the sun then at 4:40 i here this massive crunching noise coming up on me fast from behind me. I'm sitting on a stool in weeds between a plowed field and a corn field with the outside edges just cut. This buck comes so close i could have wacked him on the ass with a golf club. I stand up quick and do a grunt noise at him and he stops and looks around then he starts walking and i grunt again and he turns a little to the left and i shoot him at ten yards. The blood trail was massive and i thought it was a lung shot by the spray. We followed him about five hundred yards across a cut bean field to a big thicket with a pond. We see where he layed down three times and decided to get out and leave him alone. We give him a hour and go back with lights and get on his trail bloods starting to thin and i get the sick feeling. Buddy says lets let him go and you come back in the morning so i agree and we are walking back to the truck and jump him again by accident. He was laying in a pool of blood which made me happy that he was still pumping and it wasn't drying up. Went back this morning and zig zaged a CRP field in and found him about a half hour. The only other time i was that happy is when my daughter was born. I will post pics to this post tonight. Now its my daughters turn as she still has her tag. Damn i love deer hunting!!!!

Sounds like an exciting day all around! Right place right time and you did it on the ground with a pig of a buck on the ground! Great job!

Keep after it fellas! Glad TOO see TOO Nation out in full force! Good luck!

Glad you found your arrah J!

Well that just confirmed my suspension that rut hasn't started down here yet.. Had 2 does in the plot 80yds out they walked back in the tree line.. Not 30sec later a buck walks out 10 ft from where they walked in and just kept going the opposite way.. I grunted at him and he stopped and looked for a min then went on his merry way.. Grabbed the rattle bag and nothing..

My oldest daughter is so funny. This is her 4th year hunting. Every year, she had shot one time, hit her target and then refuses to re-hunt that year, as she wanted to keep her "perfect" score........3 arrows, 3 deer.

Well, tonight she missed so now she's mad as all get out. :smiley_chinrub:

Sorry to hear about her miss, Diane. It likely won't be the last, but like anything, you never forget the first. I have so many I can't even remember them all. :)

Zippo for me this evening

Get him in the morning, Gordo. I plan to, but if I'm lucky and do kill one, I'm gonna really miss getting up to get after them every morning! I plan to put my ghillie suit to use in the morning. I've watched tons of deer filter through a patch of foxtail every morning. I'm getting in there extra early and getting right in there with them. I'm really going to miss being able to see all the activity at a distance though.

I told her she wasn't being realistic in thinking she would never miss, but she'll eventually learn that on her own.
