Sitting where I had tons of activity last night. Bumped nothing on way in. Been settled in for 10-15 min. Resident squirrel population seems to be thriving. Might be time to rattle some antlers. Big antlers.

Seen a good 130-140" buck this morning. Had the bow at full draw and was getting ready to let one fly......Then I woke up. Good grief, can't even kill the damn things in my dreams. Oh, well. Off to hunt some squirrels now.

Still nothing, can hear a couple guys splitting wood back over the ridge. If I don't see anything by noon I am switching spots.

Looked up and saw a 120-130 8 point about 50 yds away. He turned and walked away. Grunted at him but no interest.

Must have snuck in pretty quiet. There is a fawn bedded 40yds away. Poor thing looks Tuckered out. She was running around scared and lost last night when I was here. I bet she isn't 70lbs.

I'm not seeing squat but this spot just feels good.

The old man had a young buck pass by at 20yds on a mission. Hoping he's getting into some action over there.

Skunked at the creek crossing, grabbing a bite a shower smoking up the gear and back out here in a little bit....

Wind was good until 10 then picked up quite a bit.....

I wound up seeing one more buck and one more doe from the tree. Saw two young bucks on the way out. The biggest is about 110" or so, a good looking 8 I hope to see in a year or two. Not a bad morning, but obligations and a fertilizer truck put me out of the tree. I would like to spread fertilizer in that thing just once though...biggest tricycle a boy could hope for!:)

Got pretty quiet for awhile. Bluejays started first, then the squirrels got active. Now my bedded fawn is up to feed. U am back to high alert level. Must be time for midday movement. I sure hope so.

Was going to stay all day in the same spot but no chasing or aggressiveness this AM so I am going to see if the big boys at the cabin wanna play. NW wind is a strange on but I will just go in a different way and smoke up good.

Had my best hunt of the year. Only my 2nd time ever in this area today. I saw 7 deer , 3 were bucks and one was a 130 class 10 pt. Two hot chases right at first light, a little 6 pt hounding a doe and her yearling. Then 5 mins later a 2.5 yr old 8 pushed a mature doe thru but they got behind me. Five mins later the original 3 deer came zipping thru again. Saw a lone yearling at 8:15 so that doe may have pushed her off. Then, as I am contemplating getting down and scouting some the big buck comes thru at about 10:50. He was backtracking that doe, but he never got closer than 45 yards out. Super exciting hunt, but couldn't close the deal. Also saw a huge doe by herself on the way out at noon. I was shocked that a buck wasn't chasing her. I wish I could hunt all day, but it looks like I'm done until Saturday.

My scouting mission didn't go so wl. Everything looked good, but was TOO thick to hunt without some work. Elected to gab lunch, head home and pinch a gimpy, then hit the farm up. Just sitting an observation set tonight.
