I'm going tomorrow, I think. My feet are already cold. Is it even worth going when you are hunting ghosts?? Its all about the chance. Things hoped for have higher value then things assured.

Let me know if you knock one down, I'll be up Thurs-Sunday hunting.

We should hook up and do a sit together. Be sure to shoot me a text.

Well tonight wasn't a total skunk. I saw a fox, and I heard what he said TOO. Ended the night interestingly though. As soon as my foot hit the ground I heard talking behind me. 15 yds behind me was two guys one was wearing a headlamp. Neither saw or heard me. I watched as they walked by and down to the river. I heard them say something about their traps. Waited till they got out of sight and headed in. Called the land owner and asked if there was supposed to be anyone trapping? He said no. We met at y jeep and started our trek back. Meanwhile he was telling about a run in he had last night with some coon hunters. So now I got coin running dogs and trappers all over the property.

The good news is the coon dogs and their owners are not allowed back. Once we got back to the trappers we got to talking and the owner had forgotten about giving the guy permission to run a trap line. Got to talk with the guy and he seems pretty straight up. Asked when and how often I hunted to make sure he didn't come in when I was on stand again. No harm no foul.

Had a good sit today. Set up this morning and got too cold round 9:30. At 10 I was all packed and headed out on a trek to check out a spot I found on the topo. On my trek I found some fresh scrapes and eventually got to the spot around 11. Took a lil siesta till 12:30 and was set up at 1. Round 2:30 I hear crashing behind me and I grabbed my bow and turned around.

First comes a spike then a 6 pt pushing him around and another 3 pt following. I'm watching these clowns bully each other for a bit but then they turn and start closing in on this ditch they were running parallel to. They get real close to the ditch when all the sudden all three take off like a bat outta hell and a public land dandy of a 10 comes outta the ditch full charge. The spike tripped and stumbled when he took off and he looked like death was near as he was scrambling to get up and run haha the 10 is grunting at em and bossing them around as they keep fugging with him.

So I'm sitting there going why in the world are these 4 bucks hanging out. Then all the sudden I see a doe pop up outta the ditch i couldn't see her cuz the ditch was too deep and now she's headed my way! She's bout thirty yards out in the brush and is headed down a trail that runs 10yds from my tree. The big boy starts following her and I'm getting amped then all the sudden she stops before coming outta the brush, turns and heads up the hill behind me :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

Ended up seeing another buck chasing a doe 80 yards out but it happened too fast for me to judge size.

Sounds like an exciting hunt Teej! Good for you. I didn't see anything but a ditch tiger. Woods were very quiet. Didn't even see a squirrel and they are plentiful in this woods. Hitting a different location tomorrow. Standing corn in the morning following a cold night. Have higher hopes for the morning than what I saw tonight but it would be difficult to do any worse than tonight. Oh well. That is hunting.

Slept like crap. Weird dreams. Sweated all night. Up now. Getting ready to shower, smoke up and hit the woods. Pretty dang certain the Warm Bag is going with me today. (Poor man's version of the Heater Bodysuit.) Killed a nice doe out of this stand this year and last. Only standing corn for several miles. Heck, only standing crops for miles. My gut feeling? Not sure I have one. Hoping to just see some action but it is generally not until a couple hours after daylight when I see action here. Going to be a lot of shivering prior to this if today is like most days there. West winds. East side is naturally shut off. I am sitting on this eastern side where a N/S fence rows meets up with the end of an E/W fence row. Will have corn NW and SW of me on either side of the fence rows. Should be excellent if there are any bucks cruising as the does tend to hang out here no matter what the crop. Problem is they also tend to take their good ol' time wandering around this big field. Thru the corn. Around the corn. In/out of the fence rows. There really is not much pressure here so they wander aimlessly. Only one place I feel I could see better action. This would be a couple hundred yards west of this stand between another N/S fence row and the other end of the E/W fence row I will be sitting in. That stand would put me at the intersection of 3 corn fields, one food plot, and 2 fence rows. Unfortunately, it is tough to access with standing corn and I would just as soon leave the deer clueless they are being hunted.

Yes it is.

Already had my first deer stroll through. I am guessing small buck. To early to see that far and didn't have my binoculars out yet.

Good deal Steve. Me too. Young buck cruising. Did a loop and gave me 2 looks before moving on. Sounded like he hit a scrape. Couldn't see though. Cold is brutal up in this tree but I am amped. Quiet morning too. Not sure I want to hit antlers. Thinking a few can calls And grunts.

Good luck fellas!

Momma with 2 fawns several hundred yds off. From what I saw late last week I would guess she has bred already. Now I just need the big boys to start cruising. Hope you guys are seeing some action. Too cold to sit without seeing deer. I held off as long as I could but now I am wrapped up in The Warm Bag. Can feel my toes again.

Saw what I am pretty sure the same deer. Small buck.

I just can't get over the lack of overall movement. You would think with these colder temps these deer would be up and moving.

Taking my second dump, showering and heading out to sit the rest of the day. I'm going to a spot that sees a lot of late more movement as it and based on what I'm hearing, I won't miss much.
