The TOO Live Hunt and Recap Thread: 2013 Edition

Looking good Wayne! Good luck brother!

I'm out tonight just to get some fresh air. Only sitting until 6:30 so I can make dinner and get to bed early. I wanted to hunt a new farm, but decided against it after taking TOO long to check cams at the farm.

I put out a bushel of apples here on Friday night and they are gone already! Seen 3 slick heads already and I just got here 15 minute ago. On a doe mission tonight, so my hands may get bloody yet!!!

I'm in the thick shit in a creek bottom. This is a spot I've always seen while shed hunting and finally got a hang on set up in here. This is my first sit in this spot. It's down out of the wind and a nice ridge runs along a creek bottom to a lake then up to a field on the opposite property. Hoping to catch them leaving their bedroom.

I've always envisioned bucks cruising this ridge line. It's a great place for a sneaky one. I have no cams here so I'm going old school with this spot. Relying on instincts.

Just got settles in also. Sitting in a setup that I hung preseason last season and then had to tear it down. Landowner decided to take a break and not allow hunting. Well got back in this year. It don't get much better than this!

I will be blown away if I don't see any deer let alone kill something tonight.
 
Swinging in the breeze. Swing in the breeze. More like 11 mph sustained with gusts to 24. Supposed to die down about an hour before sunset.

Just had a young up and comer 8 trot through... First deer of the year from a stand for me! Finally... He appeared to be very interested in checking for a hot doe. Only a 2 1/2 year old, but it was nice TOO see some action.

I TOO am in a new set tonight. After a lil nap and watching some nfl I forced myself to get out tonight, and I'm glad I did. It's a beautiful evening. Peepers are peeping, winds whispering. Now all I need is to see some deerZ.

It is. Tons of Japanese honeysuckle in here. Big deers like thick cover. There is an old logging rd type path to the front that is a highway. Deer cut the inside corner of this cornfield on that path. To the south there is a thick point that has slopes facing east and west and it drops to a corn field. Behind me a pretty deep gully. They funnel through on this ridge top path between the gully and the corn. To the north the neighboring property owner with his clover plot and feeder.
 
Hoping to hear a IKS tonight! Some damn good looking sets being hunted it looks like! I just pulled into work....Fugg! I'll be living vicariously through you guys tonight! Good luck!
 
Momma was at work. Hit the road for some scouting. Loving the beans and corn off in a few areas I haven't had visuals on for awhile. Watched two groups of 3 does and a small doe getting run around by a basket rack. 8 deer spotted in one area. Sure making me feel good about the next few weeks. As other hunters get out and access this spot they will push all the deer onto me. LOVE IT!

I believe there are very few "secrets" in the hunting world. Much of it I feel is hard work, scouting, time in the woods, and a touch of luck. Scent Smoker is the exception. The TV marketing hype about brands of seed, supplements, camo patterns, etc is simply hype. Most of it helps very little if at all OR there is little difference between them and the next product over on the shelf. Scent Smoker is the exception. Truly is one of the industry secrets.
