I had my first opportunity at a big deer this evening. It's the 8pt I had on video from last year. He was out in the tall grass and I had ten minutes of time left, but I just couldn't see well enough to make the shot. At least it got my heart pumping.

Its been very slow for us. Got stopped by the wardens today they were good guys and we had everything in order. They didn't know what to think when they told me they had seen 30 driving around today. I told them if that's what it takes to see them were gonna start driving the roads.

I finally saw some deer kinda up close. As I was getting out of bed & washing my face, the phone sounded off. There were two deer outside the house. A good sized doe & fawn. No bucks. I did get out & put a stalk on them just for the hell of it. The only snow around was a very light dusting on leaves. I had no intention of shooting at them, but I was hoping there would have been a buck nearby in the woods. At least my gun season wasn't a total bust.

School was cancelled here today. I assumed that would get some people in the woods. I was right. A 16yr old boy just posted pics on FB, he killed a dandy with a drop tine! His lucky day for sure.

Sad thing, this kid posted pics of a small 8pt during youth season. I don't want to know anymore than that... The one he got today is a dandy!
