went out for a few hours this morning, had a nice buck pass by at about 50 yards, to far for a comfortable shot for me. when i came down from my stand I decided to check out where he moved through. found a couple fresh scrapes and ended up jumping him about 60 or 70 yards from where I saw him.

gonna try again this afternoon.

That's a sweet video Hoyt, and would have been cooler if there was a THUNK! :) Nice looking doe, hard to believe there are still beans on, they must be some of the last out.

(How's Austin doing this year? When he is going to join TOO?)

Heading out in the morning for ol' Tanker. Going to need some luck on this one. He was under me before legal shooting light last time out.

Well made it out for myself this evening. Went to the same property that Becky and I went to on Sat. except I sat in the stand instead of the blind. Didn't see anything. The beans have come off since Sat. Morning, I don't know when it was. For all I know it could have been all day today and ran all the deer off for the day. Still enjoyed the beautiful evening in the stand.

Hunted yesterday morning and evening, and this morning. Saw one deer alive, and one dead. Found a dead do in a spot covered with sign, not sure if coyotes got her or what. She hadn't been there long, but all that was left was the hide and bones.

Just five "S's" to take care of. S*it, shower, smoke, squeeze the release, and slay the dragon!

I saw several groups of deer moving around this morning while making my rounds at daylight, including a couple 1.5 year old bucks harrassing does....that's the first that I've seen any kind of this activity so far.

Get ready guys, they are going to start moving on their own shortly.

Caught a buck on cam the other night that I think had just chased a doe past the cam but it got him in the act and not the doe running past lol. It was the basket rack 8pt that I think is a 2.5 yr old. He also made a scrape not far away from the same spot so I know they are getting a little more frisky lol.

After reading this, maybe I am not crazy. The big boy is staying just a step ahead of me. I heard deer moving just north of me and saw what I thought was a single doe crossing the creek. Scratched my head thinking maybe it was the right side half rack that passed through. I could only see the left side of the deer. Couple minutes later I hear another deer coming, big boy crossed the creek at the same spot. Both were on a trot. Not really a sprint, but not your typical morning meandering either. I figured they got bumped by the guy hunting the neighboring property or maybe a coyote or something. I guess it is possible I witnessed a little chasing this morning. Until I see further evidence, I am ruling this one coincidence. For what it is worth, I later put the range finder on the spot they crossed the creek and found 58yds. I had pre-measured all my shooting lanes and never shot that far with the range finder because it is beyond my range. It wasn't too far away though. I am having one heck of a chess match with this one. Best season ever!

Got skunked myself this evening. I swear I'm just going to start shooting those damn fox squirrels just so I can kill something while in a stand. Time to tote in the recurve and some flu flu arrows to shoot the little basterds out of the tree above my head.

Talked to my cousin last night and he had an encounter with a 150" 10-point last week. The deer was on him before he ever had a chance to get ready, then moved on towards another one of our stands. What's crazy is I was so close to sitting that stand that day, but decided to take care of a few things. Another one of those "could've" deer. Fortunately, the deer had no clue he was there and I'm pretty sure we'll have another encounter with him before it's all said and done with...

Rode the combine with the farmer taking off the corn surrounding the main woods I am hunting right now. He took off 3/4 of it and left it to the rear of the field right along the creek and funnel/pinch point. Can't wait to get in tomorrow and sit until dark. May the deer Gods shine on me tomorrow!

Scrape is opened up under my stand. Had a big doe come through by herself about 20 minutes ago. I won't be up here too much longer as there's rain headed this way.
