I have a lot on my plate in the next 3-4 months, so I'll have a good bit to share in here. Headed over town today to gather supplies for our chicken enclosure. With some luck, I'll have it up and running tomorrow. Next is a coop, a garage remodel, painting the living room/hallway/kitchen, staining the decks and building a playset. I have several smaller things to get done if time permits like replacing the doors on my shed, building a raised bed, and some general curb appeal stuff. Looking forward to getting after it!

I have a handful of rental properties. My tools are scattered between buildings. When I need to fix something it is inevitable I will be forgetting some tools. I also use these tools for commercial property maintenance. I now have a solution. I am mobile, I have reduced stolen shop space, and I am equipped to fix "most" issues at our properties by hooking onto a trailer. I teased Beentown and told him I was coming for his customers.

While I was out picking up supplies for the chicken pen today, I stopped by Harbor Freight. I never go there, but I've been in need of a vise and an angle grinder for a long time, but don't use them enough to justify spending big money. And I don't yard sale often or go to auctions. I also had a couple coupons from a flyer we got in the mail. Picked up an angle grinder for $14 that did a great job on my mower blades and this vise for $22.

One thing I'd like to get better at is "winterizing" my stuff. It seems I always use my stuff right up until the time I start hunting serious and everything gets put away a hot mess. I do use Sta-bil in my gas all year long, so I have that going for me. I'll need my lawn tractor to haul some stuff around, so I dusted it off today. Changed the oil and greased it up. Replaced the air filter, spark plug and belt on the mower deck. Sharpened the blades and added some fresh gas with Sea Foam. Charged the battery too. This will be year 7 and she runs like a top.

As you can see by the deck, she wasn't exactly put away nice and tidy!

Got all the posts set today. Dug 11 18" holes and every damn one was full of rock and roots. Took a lot longer than I'd have liked and wore me out. Throwing around a 50# spud bar like that will make a man of you!

That is definitely man maker work. If you were soft today, you will be sore tomorrow. That is the stuff prison chain gangs are supposed to be doing. Lol

First thing I did this morning was smash my pointer finger with a waffle head framing hammer. Bled like a stuck pig! Set the tone for the day! This is tough stuff to do alone. I'm capable of better work, but it's just a chicken run, so I'll live with it. Besides, it looks good from the house and it'll hold chickens, so who cares if it's not perfect.

Angle grinders have many uses. I found them to take off too much metal from lawn mower blades and were too difficult to hold at a precise angle. When I started, I would use the vice and a hand file on each blade, each night. This kept the same factory angle for a longer time period than using the angle grinder. Saving up to buy a blade sharpener was a God send. Same angle, every time, fraction of the time used. Obviously, way overkill for a home owner to buy to use a couple times a year, but in my situation it was amazing.

Chicken coop looks fantastic. Prettiest one I have seen in awhile. You might want to make a future plan for protecting the chickens from death from above. Hawks, owls, etc., can start snagging them if you aren't careful. I probably wouldn't worry about it unless they start to come up missing. Just a thought though.

This is just to let them roam inside of and I'll build an actual coop inside. It's pretty well covered with tree canopy, but a hungry hawk/owl could still make an effort. Lady across the road just let's he's run free and she never mentioned it being an issue for her. Time will tell. I'm sure there's stuff to learn here, but that's what it is all about.
