I'm right with you guys. Made a trip Sunday morning to Lowe's with my trailer.
Came home with $ 350.00 of treated lumber. Should produce four 10'x5' raised beds.
Last night I cut boards to size. Tonight I'm drilling pilot holes. I have stainless fasteners on order here at work.

Treated 2"x12"x10' are $26.00 each. Treated 2"x10"x10' are $15.00 each. I'm still in sticker shock.
I knew how much they should have run but it must be pretty elaborate or tall to need $350 worth of lumber.
Care to share how you are building them? Always interested in new plans. Mine are 4th but only 10" high. Just enough to get them off the ground.
Great ideas with the pallet Shawn. I really like the idea of reusing the wood for raised beds!
I am finally finishing off some projects that have been in the works for awhile. I need to get back in the garage and keep rearranging it to open up more room, but it was a great day outside whipping things into shape!
One of the biggest downfalls of the property is how wet it sits in the front in the spring.
When we first bought it -fall 2008
Very wet spring in 2010 plus some strong winds uprooted some trees.
Before driveway construction - Aug 2013

Pour day 1 - Aug 2013

RH french drain & side dress - Dec 2013
Drive complete - April 2014
Now I just need to bring in a lot of dirt and start blending the yard to the creek and plant last years Father's Day gift, a blue spruce to put in front of the water meter access. The idea with the stone is to add side support and drainage for the drive. The topsoil line will come up to about 6" from the LH edge of the drive.

A good work bench at this home has been long overdue. I have been working off an old section of kitchen cabinets and a loose countertop. Out of no where my neighbor contacted me about some left over bowling alley material. I quickly went to work to create a shallow bench that did not stick out any farther than the garage door opening. Need to drop a big ol vise on the end still but so far it has been working well. I like shallow because it forces you to put stuff away!mif it I paint for the current job, then it's got to go to its home for the current tools/materials.
Finished it with a 2x4 on the edge with 1/8" sticking above the bench surface so things don't roll off.

That is an awesome work bench! Very nice setup you have there. Garage, house, driveway, it all looks very nice.
Thanks guys. The bench turned out better than I thought it would. It was fun trying to cut that alley w/o hitting a nail, making it square, and getting the size I needed. I will take an updated picture of the bench. It is bolted to the wall and lag bolted to the floor. I slammed it pretty hard this weekend with a sledge and metal work and it didn't move a 1/16" of an inch, although the wife said she could "feel" the vibrations on the couch :smiley_clap:
Next steps:
1 - Put garage crap away
2 - Finish painting the wallmounted cabinets
3 - Scrub floor
4 - Hang 2 more T-8 fluorescent lights
5 - Replace that nasty red colored poster with some Green n Yellow!

Spent the weekend constructing and installing my raised beds. I may add one to two more later this summer. I'll order some garden soil later this week.
Ended up going with treated 2"x 10"x 10' x 5' with 4" x 4" embedment trimmed out with some 1" x 4" and all stainless lag bolts.

Put it off for two years. Tired of hearing about it. Wife wants chickens. Was at Tractor Supply today. They had chicken coops on clearance. $180. I bought a pre-made one. I know. Shame on me. Could have built one easily. Don't have the time. Now it is in a box taking up room in the shop until I put it together.
