TOO Weight Loss - Biggest Loser Edition

Had my first serious workout yesterday and I feel good this morning. I tried not to over do things so I wouldn't be dead for the ski trip this weekend. I did 15 minutes on the eliptical followed by a 10 minute brisk walk on the treadmill with the inclind maxed out and finished that up with a 5 minute jog that covered .70 of a mile. I spent 20 minutes on shoulders and legs after that on the machines and free weights. I fell this weekend and screwed up my left shoulder, so I have some work to do before I can get serious about lifting. Felt great to break a nice sweat. I'll head back tomorrow for more of same...

1/11/11 starting weight was 230.0 pounds.

We were talking about weight appearance earlier in the thread. Just wondering, for those of you who have met me, what I appear to weigh. You're not going to hurt my feelings so don't be afraid of that, just let me know.
 
Getting my membership after work today finally........

1/12/11 - 197lbs...

I am going to start something I have never empasized on before...Cardio..

I always wentfor bulk and strength. Now I am going for strenghtining and tone and cardio...

I dont mind being 197, just not 197 and jiggle a bunch when I jump up and down..

I would say 330 +/- 10 pounds based on your height. (Circa August when I last saw you.) Not a lot of people are your height and I know that can skew numbers a little. Prefect example was a kid I graduated high school with. He was skinny as shit, but weighed 200+ because he was 6'6". Now that he grew into his frame, he goes 300 and he's still "skinny" to a degree. I also have a buddy that is 6'7" and he was 400 pounds this summer, be he's a lot bigger than you. So I feel safe around that number...
 
My goal is to get down to 205 or under and be in "shape". Your shape is relative IMO and what I am after is being able to walk the hills around here without asking for oxygen at the top. I want to be able to play two baseball games in a weekend without feeling it until Wednesday. I want to be able to play pick up basketball games without fear of not being able to walk the next day. I would love to be able to peel my shirt off in the summer and not worry about looking like someone who should have left it on! Simply put, my goal is to get healthy and stay healthy!
 
About to head to the gym now. Going to hit it hard again in about an hour once I get these guys finished up.

9/15/2010 - 271 pounds dropped off 30 some pounds. Then a long lay off. now:
1/12/2011 - 248 pounds

Made it to the gym tonight I did 30 minutes on the eliptical, burnt 510 cals and went 2.4 miles according the machine. As I went to hop on a treadmill some lady snagged the last one up right before me.

This is the only gym I've ever belonged to that they didn't out time limits on the equipment. I'm sure there are people who stay on the machines for upwards of an hour. Kinda sucks when the place is hopping and there isn't enough equipment.

Attempted to do turbo jam with my wife but gave up as I didn't care for it and it wasn't fun for me.
 
Sure thing JJ. I need a little motivation to start getting my distance up. Tonight was about 3.4 miles if I remember. I want to hit 5 miles at least once a week.

We stopped our gym membership and purchased a commercial grade nordictrack. So, no excuses. It's in my house and I don't need a sitter to watch the kids. while I work ou at home.
 
I have no idea on your weight John, but you are tall and solid. I would guess around 300. Keep it up. Those are good times for a man of your size. Best 5k I ever had was 17min15sec. I was consistent under 18min, but never broke into the 16min range. Usually I was 1730-18min. I only ran cross country to help me during track season. Never ran cross country until my Junior year in high school though. Only did one 10k but don't remember the time. That was at Ft Jackson SC. My favorite was the 2 mile portion of the PT test. We had this friggin' Lt colonel that ran all the time. My company commander came up to me one morning and said "the Battalion Commander will be doing the PT test with our company today. I want you to give him a run for his money." I beat him. As we were cooling down the LT Col wanted to know about my running and workout schedule. I told him I run when the dog gets loose, otherwise I run 2 miles a year when Uncle Sam makes me do it. lol

Ya'll are doing good...can't wait to hit the gym when I get back to school! I need it!
 
Well I had missed this thread!

I have been working on my weight for about 3 months. I was up to 265 lb. I am now hovering around 240. I haven't really done any work out just cut down on my intake and working a lot of hours. when it warms up I'd like to start riding my bicycle.

I want to feel better about taking my shirt off when I am outside working in my garden.
 
I will never be "the situation" or look like brad pitt with my shirt off. I have excepted the fact that I am going to have some "cushion" there . But to not look TOO bad with my shirt off is definately a goal.

Thanks for the info on BL. I bought it for my wife tonight.

I worked out pretty hard this morning. 10 minute warm-up on the eliptical. 10-8-6 reps on bench and squat. The same reps on leg press, bicep curls, tricep extensions, shrugs, lat pull down, military press, Row pulls, chest flies and leg extension quad and hammy. 45 minutes on the eliptical on 8/10 difficulty. max of thirty secs between reps unless jog to machine/changing weights.

Came home after buying the Biggest Loser Challenge on the Wii. JJ is not kidding. That fuggin thing kicked my ass more than the above workout. I am sure I was already tired a bit for the workout this morning but...IT DOES WORK. Now maybe my beloved will drop the three year old baby weight :)

Yes, it's a fine workout. Kinda addictive, too. LOL.


Only had time for a 15 minute run tonight. Still hoping to get up one morning and do a workout...
 
That's a good point JJ - time of workout.

What do you guys think? Morning? Afternoon? Evening? I think that they say that the morning is the best time to do it, but I tend to believe that doing it whenever you can it best...simple enough. I tend to find that working out at about 10 pm works great for me. That's when I'm on my get up at 8 am schedule, take a nap from 5-6, eat dinner, go to meetings and events, work out, shower, and then study during my peak productivity time of midnight-2am...then bed. So working out isn't the last thing I do before bed. It's such a stress reliever for me at College and does the mind good concentration wise.
