Sunday night, or early Monday morning July 24, 2023: 07/23/23 - 🦌 Deerz, from☀️ sunup to sundown @bothfarms 🚜

960bc073-112b-49f0-ab8e-b0bd6cf8bef1.jpg

Video description:

Wild deer daylight trail camera captures from in between sunup to sundown during July 23, 2023 at both farms. All the photography was placed in chronological order by way of timestamp. This video represents a typical summer day of Whitetail Deer visiting either a feed and/or mineral site at either one of the two farms. Some of the trail camera video clips of the better bucks were included, all of the other images are still photographs of mainly antlerless deer. This video does not include all the deer at both properties, just the ones that stepped in front of any of the four cellular trail cameras that I have in operation currently.

Hope you enjoy the latest update of what I have going on in my neck of the woods.

Thanks for watching and have a fantastic week!

Video description:

This video contains the first week of trail camera captures of Whitetail Deer at the other farm, which is in an entirely different county than ours. Most of the wildlife in the video are Whitetail Deer trail camera captures from July 19 through until July 27, 2023, the first full week of having everything up and working.

On July 5th, I was in the area and stopped over at this farm to lay out (100) one hundred pounds of whole corn, (35) thirty-five pounds of Rocky’s 360 minerals and (1) one Rocky’s Trophy mineral lick. A week later I returned, same scenario pretty much, right after work, and brought only (50) fifty pounds of whole corn with me. Once I arrived at the feed site, I quickly realized that all the corn and mineral salt powder were completely gone. The place was tore up! So, I went ahead and laid out the only bag that I wheeled out with me, jumped over to the Tactacam Reveal X cellular trail camera, swapped SD memory cards and batteries because they were completely dead for over a month. Then I hung a camera right above the food to capture closeup photo images of whatever decided to feed.

I returned once again a week later and replenished the feed site with another (200) two hundred pounds of whole corn, another (35) thirty-five pounds of powdered minerals. Jumped on over to the Reveal cellular trail camera and swapped SD cards, ran back over to the feed site to swap the SD card in the trail camera hanging above the food. Afterwards, I spent approximately an hour cleaning up debris, tossing downed trees and limbs into the bottom of the nearest ravine and cleared deer trails as well. After I finished, I hiked back to the pickup truck and drove home by midafternoon. I started this video project that evening and worked on it whenever I could in between other pressing matters over the past week.

This is the largest video project that I have ever done for YouTube. The original video file is over (3) three hours long to view completely with (1,759) seventeen hundred and fifty-nine individual media image files within it, which equates to over (35) GB/thirty-five GiGi-bites of 4K ultra high-definition "PixNClips" in consecutive order by way of timestamp from two different cameras, and yes, I viewed the entire original video at least twice while making this much, much shorter version. I reduced the viewing duration time by (4) four times and added some background music that isn’t unbearable for most hopefully. I usually create at least one of these types of videos for each farm a year. This video did not cost me a dime per say, just my time while sitting down to create it, and whatever food I laid out for the wildlife. I do not use any special type of media editing software or tools to create my videos, just what's available on either my phone or laptop. Each one of the channel’s playlists contains prior historical information of wildlife from the areas I hunt, deer being the main subject, target or objective. In this video, you will have the opportunity to see a raccoon assault my trail camera, multiple times throughout the week.

My impression or assessment of the current health, numbers and recent activity of the local deer herd is about normal, based on previous years’ knowledge and experience hunting and maintaining the property. I do expect, however, the better and more mature bucks to start showing up throughout the month of August.

I also wanted to share with you that I learned how to create and add chapters to YouTube videos, and this is the first video I’ve ever included them, simply because the video is long still. I created a chapter for Wednesday the 19th, which is the first one, second chapter for Thursday, one for Friday, and the rest of the (7) day week span in the final chapter. Just click on the play bar of the video to immediately go to those locations within the video.

I hope you enjoy today’s video which does show all the deer that stepped in front of the camera anytime during the first week of them being operational for the new year and thank you for taking the time to read and watch. More videos are in the works, and I intend to have them available soon

08/06/23 12:45 p.m. - Just a brief FYI message. Currently working on a new video and hope to have if it competed today sometime, weather permitted ⛈️ of course.

I threw those large media files that I used to create the last publicly shared video of the other farm's first week inside this year's hunt journal on the channel, which it is shared publicly. I did this in case anyone might be interested in viewing what all occurred at the other farm at normal recording speed in ultra 4k high-definition with 'Mother Nature' audio sounds. I did not make those videos public originally because some of them are super long in duration, and the extreme range in audio sound in some of them, I placed each of the original videos used to create the short version inside the channel's '2023/24 hunt journal' playlist, still listed as unlisted and not shown on the main channel page. If they are NOT viewable to you, please let me know, thanks,

I'll fair warn you though, some of the bird sounds are truly deafening! Just beware if you have your volume turned up. Some of the singing birds did hurt my ears because of the repeated high pitch.

Anyhow, here's the link to gain access to this year's hunt journal of mine, on the channel, which are previously shared here first usually in most cases.

2023/24 LIVE HUNT JOURNAL -
Enjoy!

08/06/23 - Didn't finish the video project today. It might complete the upload process sometime tonight though, however in the meantime, some more 🦌 deer showed up this evening and included one I forgot to post yesterday with 'SHYBUC'.

This guy's name is 'LEFTY', and he's a (5) five year old buck that shows up every once in a while. I mentioned before about him loosing one side of his antler earlier in the growth stage a couple of years back and never grew back right until this year, and he's big bodied too. First year where his rack finally looks halfway decent 😎

I honestly hope this takes some time to come together. This seems like a slam dunk and I hope that doesn't happen!

Take however long you need, the deer aren''t going anywhere, at least not for a while.

Never a "slam dunk"! And I'd rather hunt the other farm than our place when it comes to wanting to actually kill a deer. Hunting this valley is not easy and these deer are the smartest or the most alert than any other place I ever hunted. Something about Ross County deer. They are always on pins and needles and always ready to bolt.
++++++++++++++++++++++
I found out this evening that the big buck I arrowed last November survived. I pulled SD memory cards today @theotherfarm and there's double the deer action over the first week and more of the bigger and mature bucks showing up already. Putting together 'Week II' video for that farm. I think you'll be even more excited after seeing what's going on at that farm.

There are some guaranteed good times gearing up for you two, and I can't wait!

One of the video projects that I've been working on that I'll share a portion of since I'll be super busy this weekend. I won't have the time to complete the two that I have in the pipeline currently.

This unfinished video goes from July 28, until 6:30 a.m. July 31, 2023 at regular recording speed with whatever nature sounds within the individual video clips.

'Week II @theotherfarm' has over 3,000 images of bucks only, or mainly. I weeded out most all the antlerless, which there were over two times the number of them over the bucks. The video has not been shared publicly at all and is currently 'unlisted, part of a series of videos yet to be created.

The only way to see the video is with the provided link below. I will jump back into creating and completing the next two videos by this Sunday hopefully, but in the meantime, I hope that some of you will enjoy seeing what's been going on @theotherfarm recently. There will be (4) four more days left of trail camera buck captures yet to be shared from that location still.

Like I said, I hope to get back on these projects by Sunday sometime.

Have a fantastic weekend 'TOO'zers!

It's not completed, but is a video of bucks @theotherfarm, which will be part of a series of IDK how many just yet, but there will be an edited shorter version shared publicly when finished, just like week one.

Enjoy!

9:00 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2023 - Maintenance & Busy Night:

1000016425.jpg

Last evening's sunset.

After getting back home yesterday from Indiana, I did my deer chores and the monthly thorough trough cleaning at the main feed site, then replenished with 200 pounds of whole corn and another 35 pounds of minerals. I attached a gif file of me doing that work for the curious.

1000016371.jpg

I went through all the trail camera photographs from overnight, as usual in the early mornins, moments ago and it appears that most all of the big bucks showed up last night. The boys were fairly active most of the night too. I pulled down some the better photos to share. Hope you enjoy!

Lastly, since the weather is suppose to be wet, raining with potentially rocky conditions at times, I intend on staying indoors creating and finishing up the two video projects that I started and try to get them out a.s.a.p.

That's all I have at the moment, which does catch me back up for now.

Have a great week all!

Boy, it felt real muggy out today.

Some of this evening deer activities, showing just a few, not all, and a (2) two year old up-n- comer project.

And the very first buck I successfully harvested up in NY. It's the only photograph of the deer and I took it at night just before processing. I took photography in highschool and I was just learning how to use a 35mm camera. I was (15) fifteen hunting with one of my uncles in a public swamp. A young (6) six-point @100yrds. with a (12) twelve gauge pump long smooth bore barrel and open sight shotgun, shooting a regular off the local carryout store shelf, a box of 2-3/4" lead-slug cartridges, most likely, Federals or Hornadys.

I came across this photograph when I was chasing down a sports photograph of me earlier today and thought I'd share a little more of my history.

I skull capped the deer and I have no idea where those antlers are today unfortunately.

My uncles taught me the afterwards' of harvesting a deer back then, the processing. Both have since passed many years ago, God rest their souls!

Anyhow, a young public shotgun buck harvest, shot through the heart ❤️ back in 1982 along the backside of a large upstate NY swamp.

8:00 AM Wednesday, August 23, 2023:

Busy at the deer feed sites this morning. I attempted to upload a gif file showing the first 50 pix of daylight deer this morning but apparently the file is too big for the forum. So, it'll be just these few pulled down pix instead.
