TOO Weight Loss - Biggest Loser Edition

I haven't forgot about you Steve, I'll get those pics up tomorrow. Been a crazy week of work...

I attempted 300 yesterday and was 'oh so close at making it happened. I stalled out at about 90% press and had to have help. Another two weeks or so and I should be able to knock it out. I was able to do 3 sets of 8 on decline dumbbell press with 60, 70, and 80 pounders yesterday which is a drastic improvement over a few months ago. I'm seeing the impact on my arms and shoulders, but I have got to lose some of this gut!!!

Way to go, brother! You're almost there. I wish I could say the same... Last time I benched, I stalled out at 230#... 225 is still a personal best for me, but there's no way I could do it right now. I needed to step away from the weight training for a little while. Things were getting stale and my strength really seemed to plateau. After a round or two of P90X, I think I'll try heavy weight training again.

Which brings up another point - I think there are two types of cardio - a sustained movement cardio and short burst cardio. If we were to run a 5k I would probably impress you with my cardio for being the size that I am, however, I found out that my endurance cardio isn't translating well to the sustained-short burst cardio of P90X.

I totally agree, JJ. Definitely two different types of cardio. Unfortunately, right now I'm a turd at both types. lmao

Jamie is now a rep for ViSalus and is about to embark on his first 90-day challenge. I will be doing the same once I order the product I need. The idea here is to take our measurements and calculate body fat, then set realistic goals for our 90-day challenge. My goal is to maintain or increase my measurements, while dropping my body fat 4-5% in the next 90 days. I'd like to see me get back to 205-210 weight wise as well. Hopefully there will be some dramatic changes in the next few months!!!

Wayne I have a friend I mine that started his challenge along with his wife back in November. They are now on their 2nd challenge! He has lost 35 lbs and rarely works out. His wife on the other hand is now training for a bodybuilding competition! The product challenge is what u want it to be. U can use it to lose weight, gain lean muscle or just use it for health reasons. With only 200-250 calories per shake and all the nutrients you need throughout your day it's a win/win situation for me! I want to lose about 20lbs of fat and not sacrifice strength or mass. So throughout the 90 days I will be measuring inches and BF% once a week! I'm 30 now and am serious about making this the best year of my life health wise as well as all other aspects! So, how many of these shakes would you drink in a day, what other foods do you eat and how often, and how much do the shakes cost? Just playing the devils advocate here... It seems to me that any program like that would make you lose weight. Whenever you take in less calories than your body is burning, you're going to lose weight. Maybe the shakes just make it easier for people to follow through with their diet plan. Let's face it, eating healthy is a pain in the ass. The shakes would certainly increase the convenience factor. I'm just always skeptical of products like this... products that are made out to be miracle-workers. My sister is a major fan of Shakeology or whatever it's called. Is this program similar to shakeology?

Trust me when i say this....I'm just as big as a skeptic as u are! When I first heard of this I thought it was just another gimmick! Or as u called it "another miracle weight loss plan" trying to push their product. But the product pushes itself! Yes anyone can make a certain shake of choice with little calories and make it a diet plan. Ultimately consuming less calories will do just that....if u stick to it! The 90 day challenge gives u a means to an end! Short term goals are always used to achieve long term goals! The shakes are taken 2x a day and can be used in conjunction with any healthy eating plan, depending on what your desired effect is! If its weight loss then those 2 shakes would replace 2 meals and then a 3rd sensible meal would be eaten later! If it's muscle building, the shakes contain about 20gms of soy protein and would be used in conjunction of small high protein snacks in between and/or protein shakes! The overall nutrition facts of the shake is it's best quality! If u watch the 2nd portion of the video on my webpage it explains it all! At 2.50 a shake and replacing 6-8 dollar meals from McDonald's or Wendy's you are already doing your body a great service by cutting out things we shouldn't have! I'm backing this product because I've seen it work for countless people and listened to their testimonies. Do other products work? Absolutely....simply research and figure what works best for you and your lifestyle!

Wow... That sounds surprisingly-affordable. I look forward to hearing your guys' opinions of this program here after a month or so. Sounds like maybe something my wife and I could get into together.

My decision to do the challenge was based on the price, which will save me money in the long run if I stick to it. It was also based on my own commons sense and after having my first shake this morning, I feel like I made the right call. I feel the energy boost from the shake and it gave me a filling sensation that I was hoping it would. I really believe it will help me by drastically cutting my caloric intake, but at the same time giving me the nutrients I need. Like Jamie, I am on a mission. I want to be the best me I can by the time I turn 30 in September and that includes physically, mentally, and emotionally. I'm well on my way and if this summer goes as well as the first part of 2012, I'll accomplish that goal.

What are you guys wanting as far as body change. Stronger, bigger or better muscle definition, weight loss? What kind of cardio are you including in your training? How many grams of protien are you taking in with this ViSalus program?

I am trying to slim down my mid-section while gaining size in my chest, shoulders, and arms. I want to be stronger, bigger, AND more defined. Weight loss is part of it, but is minimal. I'm at 220 right now, which is up from 195 and a good bit of that is muscle. My body fat is 18-20% most likely, so I want that to go down to 12-14%. I'd like to settled out around 210-215, but decently defined and much bigger than I ever have been. I am not doing much cardio right now, but our workout is intense and we easily have our heart rates in the 120-140 range for over an hour. I do plan on adding some cardio to the mix, but not a ton. I take in roughly 80 grams of protein per day right now and plan on bumping that to double or triple when I start the program.

You probably already know to drink lots of water with that kind of protein intake. Drink lots of water!!!!!! It sounds like you guys have a great plan and it seems like you have already done your homework so I have no doubt that you will be very satisfied with your end results.
