Just an overall disappointing sit. Can't have a great sit every time I guess.

pretty much sums it up. I expected better movement as well. I dont know how it was around you, but the wind seemed like it was coming from every direction last night. If I was a deer, I'd stay down in that. Might catch a whiff of something, but have no clue where its coming from. Has to be confusing to them.

Similar Dave. Walking in had strong winds out of west. Stop before entering woods and it felt S or SW. Get in tree and it was W/SW and sometimes S. Times I could hear a lot were few. Seemed like the wind was steadily blowing more than the forecast of 5mph with gust to 10-15. Felt more like a steady 7-10mph wind with occasional pauses and occasional stronger gust. I feel this was part of my reason for seeing nothing. I have seen them move in wind before but we really haven't had a lot of wind lately. If it is windy for days at a time they have to move. If it is windy a day here or there it seems like they sit idle. Could be wrong. Just seems that way.

Damn, sorry too hear that Seth....

With the October lull in full swing from what I've been reading and hearing from coworkers I'm not missing a thing.... Changing it up this year as usually I'm on stand every minute I have available.... Then I end up burning myself out before the rut lol.... I decided I'm not shooting a doe until after the rut and see what that brings me..... I've not stepped into the woods with bow in hand yet and it's bothering the hell out of me lol.... I've been pulling cards once a week or so when it rains or is forecasting rain.... Have decent bucks early but nothing for the last month or so.....

Last week of October through November I'll be hitting it hard and on stand 10 hours a day and hopefully have some opportunities..... Until then I'll live it through y'all......

Glad to hear you made it out Milo. Like Cotty, I am also glad I am not the only one who feels this way on the first sit.

Locked,nocked and loaded...

Got in at 3:30(late cuz I smoked the crap out of everything and shot a 30 yard practice shot behind the garage) before leaving. :smiley_coolpeace:

The wind is very inconsistent coming out of three different directions(S,W,NW and everything in between. I don't mind cuz of the smoke though. I see a buck rub off to the east at 50 yards....whooHoo!

The sun is at my back and I'm on cloud 9! Great night for a hunt!

View to the north(cut CRP)

View to the east(standing corn <80 yards)

View to the south( bedding area behind houses, nearest house about 150-200 yards)

View to the west( beanfield I walked in from)

The prevailing wind seems to be coming from the west mostly which is towards the cornfield straight in front of me. I was hoping for a SW wind but it will do. If I can fool a deers nose momentarily till it/they get past my scent stream on they're way to the corn or beans I should have some great shots if I see something good.

Going to be a good night down in the holler. Wind is dying down a little and the squirrels are after it hard! Acorns are better than they were, so that'll help us. This might TOO! Feeder is empty, but the Ricer brand apples are freshly deposited!

Just had a big doe skirt us at 75 yards. She was looking for acorns and was on the move. That's a good sign when they have to move more than 10 feet to eat!
