Built a display for some racks that are gonna end up in my office.

Started with some more pallet boards. Picked a couple with some character and gave them a decent sanding. The sander really makes the nails stand out.

Went with a dark walnut stain to bring out the character. Wiped on the. Quickly wiped off.

Secured the boards together from the back then attached the racks. Great Grandpa is at the top. A buck he killed in 1947 up in Canada. The middle one is Grandpa's which is a WV buck from the 70's. Then mine on the bottom is my first archery crossbow buck from 2000.

F'n A Sean! I'm digging that!

My project list keeps growing and I don't have a free second to start on anything! Its killing me. I got my hands on a bunch of old barn lumber this weekend that will be perfect for a raised bed or two. May use it to build a chicken coop also.

The dirt truck arrived Saturday. They dumped 20 yards of premium double screened topsoil mixed with manure, sand, and lime; PH balanced.
I constructed a fifth raised bed and filled them all.

Now off to Lowes to get me some landscaping paper for weed prevention.

Now, the next project on deck, a PVC back deck and patio.

Sean that rack is really cool. You definitely have a creative mind/eye! Keep the ideas coming.

Ben that looks awesome! Lots of room to grow a nice variety. Please put up a garden thread if you don't mind, I am sure there are a few who would like to follow along.

Wow you guys are way more creative than I am. Sean, what do you do with your turkey beards, spurs and tail fans. I ask cause I'm looking for some kind of creative thing to do with mine.

Well, I've only killed 1 turkey (so far) so I don't have much in the way there. That reminds me though I need to finish this...

I bought the wood kit from a taxidermy supply place, dried the fan and wings, and mounted everything.

I'm going to hang the feet to display the spurs. Gonna use spent shotgun shells slipped over the cut part of leg. Then use leather cord to hang the legs along side of the beard.

I hesitantly post these pics. Spring is here. Progress is going to really slow down. This project could easily get pushed back to summer or fall on completion. I hope not. My wife will strangle me.

Three level paver patio. Started the top level a few years ago. Lost motivation. When I had motivation I didn't have time. When I had time and motivation I didn't have the money. Just frustrating. Seeing some light at the other end though.

Always makes me laugh that landscapers have shitty lawns, unplowed driveways, and poor landscaping at their homes...but then again, if you're out making money with your time and equipment, who cares what your place looks like as long as you're not using it as a model.

Looks nice Phil. In another life, I'd love to do hardscaping for a living.

So true Steve. My priorities are not on my property. My customers' properties come first. Always have. Always will. My property is narrow and deep. Nobody sees the backyard from the road unless they pull in the drive and take a walk around the house. In all fairness, I did put down some pre-emergent crabgrass preventer a couple weeks ago. Front yard and side yard only. Hahaha! Like I said, nobody sees the backyard from the road. When this project is done I will put more effort into the turf in the backyard. No point as long as we are running equipment across the lawn.

The finished project will include a fire ring. The old wood burner piped into the side of the house will be removed. I have left it there as a backup heat source since we installed the wood boiler 2 years ago. The concrete pad where it sits will be pressure washed, cleaned, and stained to match the pavers. I am not putting pavers over top of it. Will decide on landscaping surrounding the patio later. I am thinking hearty and low maintenance. Lord knows the boys will give it a beating. Probably some river rock, daylilly, maybe a row of burning bush on the east side for privacy. Nothing exotic. Momma wants some planters on the edges of the top level and built in seats around the fire ring. Trying my best to talk her out of the built in benches. They can be added at a later date.

For the record: We do not use our home as a model. Our main clients are commercial customers. Most have property managers out of state. We do a small percentage of our work for home owners.

Crossed another thing off the honey do list. Built a couch for the front porch...

Started with sides, then added the front and back supports. Spaced out the slats next.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404095956.606008.jpg

Built the back next to slide down into the base.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404096018.989353.jpg

Attach everything together.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404096090.556166.jpg

Have the wife add her cushions and cross that project off the list. : )

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1404096173.239154.jpg

Free pallets, couple 2x4s I had in the garage, and the cushions were on clearance. We did good.
