Well, I'm gaining a little traction on my project once again since my initial set backs.
I fired Contractor #1 that was supposed to do the complete project and hired another Contractor that's done some work for me in the past to fix Contractor #1's mistakes along with finishing up the project. In all, that will set me back another $10-12K but such is life since I'm stuck with an incomplete building. No other way out other than to spend money. :smiley_blackeye:
I'm now waiting in line for Contractor #2 as he's working on jobs ahead of me. Meanwhile my sheet metal is sitting in mud puddles after 10" of rain in the past 10 days and my steel main frame work is beginning to rust. :smiley_badmood:
Contractor #2 says he should be available in about another 7-10 days after he completes a 14,000 square foot structure in Pittsburgh. He can't come over soon enough.
Given, I'm now way over budget. Meanwhile I've had some free time while I'm waiting so I finished off the rough grade/slopes around my structure, added gravel backfill around the perimeter, and finished pouring concrete under the overhang (with the help of a friend).
Here we are now. I can't wait to put this project behind me.

Dang man hope you get it remedied and closed up soon.
Any reason why you went metal frame rather than wooden?

Yep, Longevity, heavier duty, reduced fire risks, reduced insurance, truss free, factory produced over jobsite created, time vs. labor savings, rodent/bug/rot proof, 50 year warranty.

I will be contacting you soon Ben. Might need to pick your brain. I am thinking of adding another building. Been thinking of it for awhile. Starting to get more real. Currently gathering numbers.
Looks good. Hopefully you didn't pay Contractor #1 any up front money to start. Having built houses in the past I've never paid any upfront money before the job was started. Only paid on satisfactory completion. Only had a problem with one heating-air work and when he quite I was 5K ahead of him and he never asked for a cent.
Were you think of a metal building like Ben's or a good pole barn? The guy who built my pole barn lives just down the road and builds 50 per year. He built my 30x70 with a 30x15 lean to in 5 days. With a poured concrete floor. I'd recommend to anyone as the price is right.
Also he won't put on a metal roof unless it's put on plywood. As he says 'metal roofs will leak and sweat it's just a matter of when. And I don't want to hear about a leaky roof in the future reflecting on my work.'
I had shingles installed and it's the same price as metal.
Been busy building all kinds of stuff. Mostly to get my honey do list done before hunting season. A shed / barn is on the list but that's a 2016 spring project.
Last week was a couple pallet shelves:
Wine shelf with glass hanger thingy at the bottom. Need to sand and stain yet.

This weekend I've been working on a bigger shelf thingy for the kitchen. Need to add hinges and hardware plus stain and poly.

That hutch looks real nice. You are kicking pinterest's ass! I crossed off a big one last weekend myself with a headboard. Turned out pretty decent.
