Congrats Mao!

We had action all morning. Carissa ended up taking a shot at a jake but it was too far. He busted us before the 2 in front of him stepped into the 25 yard opening. I told her to try it. After we stood up I realized it was farther than it looked sitting down...43 yards with 20 ga.

We saw 2 bobcats...one sat down 5 yards from us as it was breaking daylight.

Did the bobcat make you pucker a little bit?

I was actually very calm but to the point that I was prepared to do something. My 23 year old daughter not so much. She was about to hyperventilate. It went behind a rock from my view. I thought it was going to jump up on the rock and that's when I was going to make "my move". She said it sat down and looked at her. I believe it heard her whisper (emphatically) "DAD!" and walked off.

It's pouring here so I crawled into a blind I still have up from late season. It faces the wrong way and the bird I'm here to kill is behind me. Mason and I had him at 20 yds on Saturday but I couldn't get a shot. I haven't been out much this year, guess I've been waiting on horrible weather for the last week of season. I suddenly feel the need to kill this bird so I'll hunt him till he's dead or season goes out.

Yep. He got away again. Mason hunted a bird on this farm last yr that we named Willie. We had that bird within 30 yds a half dozen times and never got a shot. I'd bet money this is him. I'm planning a dirty trick for him tomorrow!
