Watching my dogs in the woods on Monday reminded me that the time is coming for me to start looking for another pup. Lefty is showing his age a little, Slick is in his prime. My only real connection to the squirrel dog world is no longer with us, but he did introduce me to the man I got Slick from. This is a pedigree that I intend to stay with, so I’m hoping that I made a long enough inroad with him that I may drink from that well one more time in a year or two.

Who can recommend a quality dog crate for labrador?

Ruff Land Kennels. https://rufflandkennels.com/

I have 3 labs at the moment and had one prior to these 3 that could destroy anything you put him in. I bought a Ruff Land and have been very pleased with it. I have a Large, which is fine for my 2 females, but a touch small for my male if he's gonna be in it for a while. Mine has doors on either end to make it easy for loading/unloading when it's behind the front seats of my truck.

Another vote for the Ruff Land kennel. I've had a few various crates over the years and so far this is the best I've owned by far. A bit spendy, but not unreasonable. I met the owner of the company out in South Dakota last year... He was at the Cabelas in Mitchell, SD for their "pheasant days" weekend. Just an all-around great, down to earth guy. He threw in a free set of handles and a free watering box with my purchase. My labrador is about 60-lbs and the Intermediate size fits her perfectly.

We finally decided on a name. I came up with “June” a few weeks ago. It just seemed fitting. We had been calling her Betty Junior since she was born.

I’ve got a good feeling about this pup. She seems more calm than Betty ever was (which I was hoping for) and she keeps a very close eye on what I’m doing constantly. She’s very attentive and responsive to me even at just 8 weeks old. I think we’ve got a good foundation to build up from.

I wanted a snack. Already ate. Otis didn't drool. Didn't beg. Didn't whine. Didn't lift his head off the arm of the chair. But he also didn't give up. He sat patiently hoping. Nope. No people food. Been throwing up here lately and we are trying to figure out why. People food won't help narrow it down.
