Jackalopes 2012 Spypoint Camera Pictures

Glad he is still around and wish you the best of luck downing that brute. Going to be a helluva drag but well worth it lol.

Screw that.. He's bigger than ole bankshot and it took 3 of us to get him on the back of the quad. Then jd and I had to get him in my little truck one end at a time.. After taking pics Alex and I loaded him back in the truck with a front end loader. lol... If I shoot tank he won't be drug a foot.. Maybe I'll pull an eskers and call in a chopper. lmao

Me too.. But realistically I don't see it happening. He's a smart old sucker.. Last September he showed up in front of a cam. We checked the cam and got pics, a week later we checked it again and had some more pics.. Then he ghosted. Disappeared the entire season hiding out somewhere. He was seen in March after he shed across the road about a mile from my stand. He was seen last night about 300 yards from one of my cams yet has not visited that salt block. He's avoiding it. I think He's one of those deer that if you move in on him and set up anywhere close he will immediately move or avoid the area. One shot, that's all you'll get. Short of someone bumping him to you I don't think there is a way you can stand hunt him.. One hint of something wrong and I think he totally avoids an area. Maybe during the rut providing he hasn't gone to his safe zone yet. But that wise ole bugger did just that not a week before opening day last season.

The best shot I have is to road scout him like no tomorrow, locate and watch him from a far distance, and move on him the day conditions are right.. And even then I bet I only get that one hunt.

Wow! Good to hear he's still around man. Road-scout the heck out of him and set up an ambush early. Either he's really smart, or he's got a TINY core area that you haven't yet found... or worse... both.

180's of right now! Wow, fuggar really put on some inches this year! Awesome news for you! Goodluck in getting him on cam and on the ground this fall. He, would be my target buck!

I fear both of them. The area where he was chilling during shed season is a tiny 2-3 acres of tall grass and scrub brush in the middle of a field that i don have permission for next door. If I have any chance of killing him it will have to be watching before season, waiting for that perfect moment, and moving in on him. 2 weeks before season I'll start making morning and evening drives. That's all I can think.

Tank is a perfect example of what a target buck is when talking about passing 150-160 inch deer. Don't get me wrong, I'd shoot those in a heartbeat but, if I'm hunting ground that has deer of that caliber roaming around and the potential exists of getting a shot at him, I'd pass on them till after gun season then try to tag one. Tank, is a deer that if you got on the ground, you would NEVER question "should I have taken him". Lol

That's a tough call. It would be hard to sit on my hands again if the tall eight walks out. I watched him walk away last year and thought i was a fool. I would have to have some pretty convincing evidence that tank was still around in that area.

Good problem to have then. In the end, if either of them floats your boat, then good for you. Best of luck Joe!

No doubt Joe but say it's early in the season, first week or two, and Tank and Tall 8 are together and Tank is just out of range and T8 is 15 yards slightly quartered away. Light is fading but you still have 30 minutes and the rest of the year for a shot to present itself at Tank, a 180"+ typical Tank! My guess is that nearly everyone that reads this would be extremely happy with T8 had they killed him and had him on the wall and relived evert second of such an awesome hunt, I'd be one of them! But, I'd put money on it that nearly everyone of us would be thinking and saying the same thing "after it was over" I wish I could still hunt or have an opportunity at Tank!
Now if I haven't seen Tank in a while and it's during he rut and any solid 140+ buck walks by he'd be a target buck. The feeling of passing shooter bucks waiting on a target booner to walk by, thats already dead, now that would suck!lol

Define "Just Out of Range" lmao

I am with Ric. He is facing you at 70yds and the Tall 8 is quartering away at 15yds. . . the Tall 8 would live another day. No sign of Tank between now and then, the rut is nearing an end, and tall 8 presents that shot. . . .Tall 8 is going on my wall! lol
