Oh he is. He's been seen but I haven't got him on cam yet. No surprise. He didn't show up on cam until like sept last year anyway. Moving a cam this weekend to try and get a pic of him.
Here is a pic of him last season at this same time. I'm happy I let him walk last season mid october.. If he does it again this year and gives me a shot I will not be so generous.
Yah I'm excited about him. Hopefully I can keep on him when he moves. Last year he moved about a mile in September. Then in mid October he was back as he came out a woodblock I was hunting. I want this dude on the ground so bad I can taste it. Hopefully all thats required is time with my ass in a stand.
JD gave me a call yesterday evening and told me he was standing on the side of the road looking at Tank.. He was in a bean field not 300 yards from one of my cams. Yet I haven't got him on cam a single time this year even though I knew he was around. But I didn't get him on a cam until September last year anyway so I wasn't worried.. Smart old booger is avoiding cam sets. I'm switching over to pre season tactics.. So far I have been running cams every week.. I have confirmed that the Tall and Wide 8 are still around, and now Tank. There's no reason for me to keep going in checking cams. Distance scouting is the name of the game now. BTW.. JD said Tank was about 180 inches as of right now. Add about 15 inches before he's done growing, then subtract them for velvet and he might be around 180, 185 depending. Going to be doing quite a bit of road scouting. I'll take along the HD video camera and get some footage of him when I see him. I hope he sticks around. Last year I got him on cam for about 2 weeks in September before he ghosted. He disappeared a week before season never to be seen the whole season. A buddy across the road claimed to have seen him once or twice on his property but that's rather unconfirmed.
Here is a pic of him last year for those who don't remember.
