The woods
I get woke up more often than I would like by the Coyotes howling right behind my house. We have to go out and yell at them off the back porch to make them shut up so we can sleep. They was out there last night. This has just been occuring with any regularity for the past three years. Before then, seeing a coyote was a welcomed site because there were so few around.

They are predators just like us trying to make a meager living. They cant just run down to the local grocery store and stock up. They dont hunt under the same circumstances that humans do..They are True hunters. I cant recall coyotes ever causing a species to go extinct. Man is the ultimate problem. His greed blinds him.

I respect the coyote..They are tough as hell. We are the coyotes guest when we enter the woods..they live there..they die there. I respect them more than most human hunters.

Like i said..Dont blame the coyote..Blame yourselves

Of all the coyotes we have killed over the last 20 years, and I am estimating around 350 to 400 of them......I can't recall ever seeing one that didn't look like it wasn't fat and healthy. And there has only been a small handful of them that had the mange. These things know how to find food and I can tell you they like to eat deer meat.

It all goes back to the one thing..GREED.

Why would I want to hunt a deer that has not been exposed to the dangers coyotes present? Deer living along side the coyotes makes the deer a fine tuned survival machine. Why do hunters want to the rid the coyote of their hunting areas?..Because they fear of them possibly taking something from them. (greed)

I want coyotes in my area..i want the deer that i hunt a product of natural selection. Because they will be the epitome of what the species represents.

Its unbeleievable whats occuring today....

Hunters want to make it as easy and prosperous for them as possible..whatever it takes. They want to manipulate..control..and make this a fantasy land of stupid deer.. Where is the honor?

Or maybe they just want deer left to hunt?

Love the dramatics....

If you want deer that are hard to hunt just walk through your hunting area everyday of the week and tie cow bells on yourself while on stand. Then you could really be the hero....

There is one big difference bud, a coyote is a predator animal to the deer. What predator does the coyote have to worry about in Ohio? In order for this "system" that you speak of to remain balanced, man has to take action against coyotes.

Are you telling me if we didn't hunt and trap them that they wouldn't be a detriment to Ohio's wildlife? I'm not saying extinguish every last one of them, but you would be blind to say that we don't have an overpopulation of yotes in Ohio right now.

Moundhill,

I dont think its the fault of the coyotes. The blame must be put on the ODNR and then the hunters. The hunters are killing indiscrimantely..Not their fault..theyjust dont know any better....if its brown its down regardless of the consequences of removing prime aged breeding doe's. The coyotes intrests are not the same as the human hunters intrests. The coyotes hunts down the weak..the hunter hunts down the healthiest. When you manage deer like that, then you can expect whats occuring today.

I most certainly don't hunt coyotes out of greed! You are crazy on this idea man.......

if you want a real challenge why don't you hunt your firearms season with a traditional bow? I mean, anybody can shoot one with a gun......

I can somewhat agree with you that hunters are greedy and many use the "if it's brown it's down". But that's not all of the hunters and it sucks that they all get lumped into that group. And ya coyotes hunt down the weak, but you can't tell me that a healthy fawn is still a prime prey for a coyote.
