I looked today at the settings and it is set on H and not L
I am wondering since it is a dark hole back in there if just enough light is getting in making the cam come out of IR mode but not enough to get a good solid daytime pic ? I will pull the card on the pasture tomorrow and maybe that will be a different view and not so grainy ? IDK. Stumped for sure lol. The night pics are sweet though and so are the daytime IR pics.

Are the daytime color pics grainy on your computer? Are mid day pics grainy or only the morning and evening pics.

IR cams have a light sensor.. When light drops below a certain level they switch to IR mode.. On these cams that happens instantly.. This can happen earlier in the day for cams in heavy canopy woods than for cams on field edges.. That's why your pic above at 8:11pm is already in IR mode. And as you can see it's taking good IR pics.

But that shouldn't make daytime pics grainy.

Grainy right off the card. The closest I have to a mid day pic is the first batch next to last pic of the 6pt. that came in at 1:30pm.

Like I said, dusk and dawn and even night IR pics are fine but the daytime pics are grainy. Not sure what the deal is. I will check and swap the card in the other cam tomorrow morning when I go out to hang a stand in the oak tree that is going to be loaded this year :)

Stupid question... Did you take the clear plastic sticky lense protector off the outside of the lens?

.

This is off a IR-4.. So 2 MP less than yours and it's in some really dark woods. Yours must be Africa dark. But I can obviously see the +2mp difference..

I thought I grabbed all of that stuff off of it. That cam was a rush job hang up so I may have missed it. I wasn't going to hang it but I changed my mind at the last minute. I had Phil on the phone and was trying to hang the cam and get out of dodge before the sky opened up. I will check that tomorrow just to make sure.

I know I grabbed the one off the sensor and off of the small display screen but can't remember if I got that cam lens or not :(

Adam, I have notices that I am getting some grainy night pics also. I haven't got enough to come to a solid conclusion yet, but I can definitely tell a difference.
