Worked on some chainsaw work last night. Did some more and some splitting/stacking this morning. Going to sharpen chain at halftime and try to get another good hit on it this afternoon.

Best part of this firewood is my wife giving me a hard time. The group of Mexicans dropping it off have opened up all kinds of jokes for her. Do you usually have Mexicans handling your wood? How much big wood can you take from those guys? She has just been cracking herself up. Had me laughing too.

Moved 1 cord up to my wood box on the front porch today for the Misses. I'll keep a 2nd cord on the trailer with blocks under the frame to give the springs some relief and park it next to the garage for the winter. I'll cover it with Haysite panels and move a handful a day to replenish what she burns.
That way it all stays outside till she puts it in the stove, so no bugs inside. She burns about 1 3/4 cords a winter as the gas furnace will kick on most nights.
74 degrees by day with the woodstove and down to 62 degrees at night.

Still have 6 seasoned cords out back under rubber roofing. Mostly Cherry and Ash.

I'll prep another 2 cords in the spring to bring me back to 8. otherwise I feel naked...

Gonna feel it in the morning. If my measurement is correct, I got 3.5 cords cut, split, and stacked. Roughly half of what they dropped off. Not sure I'll do the rest tomorrow. Not sure I'll have the desire to do that much again.

Started stacking, this ole mans back is hurting. Stack is 12’ long. Probably have another 3.5 stacks to go. Right now at this moment I rather pay and have it delivered.

@triple_duece I know what you're feeling right now. I really need to head out back and work on my pile of firewood. Muscles and joints are suggesting I take a nap instead.

Whittling away at it now. Hour or two at a time. Just here and there when I can. Probably a couple hours left. Maybe less. Need to repair the quick-tach on the Bobcat first. As always, sooner or later rust wins the battle. Rather it happen now than in the middle of a snow. Not a terrible fix. Just need to find the time to fix it. And a look at the wood stacks as of this evening.

That's a wrap for now. We will see if the crew cutting trees for AEP shows up and takes down the next two. They seem to have disappeared from the area. There are two more trees of similar size they are supposed to cut down. We shall see. If not? I should be good for the winter or really close to getting thru winter. Each row is approximately 20' long and 6-7' tall.

Made it to middle of the week and lit one off. Wife had enough when the house hit 63 lol.

Had one electric radiator style heater going the last week. Kept the house 68-72. It was 67 in the house when I started the boiler last night. Making it to Nov 3 is probably the latest I've lit her off. No complaints here. Electric heater unplugged. Might pull it out to use again around Mar/April if needed.

Had had to upgrade some original junk fittings with new and improved shark bite and other fittings to stop the slow leak I had and blow out the air lock so I could reach optimum water temp. Since it’s mild this week I have it shutting down at 140 then kicking on the blower at 120-130. When it gets much colder I’ll bump that up to 140 low and 160 high.
Got leaves blown all around the house today and our yard mowed along with some errands today. Also got the call my deer meat is done at processors. Life is good….

Ric- let me know how the Shark bite fittings hold up for you. You running pex?

I did similar before lighting ours up last week. Had some water loss. Couldn't find the leak. All I could see was some green on a few fittings. I believe there was some seepage and it was steaming off the fitting but not forming any puddles. BUT, ours is designed to stay in the 165-180 range. I actually removed all the Shark bite fittings and put crimp fittings on. (Only had a coupe shark bites.)

So far so good on the shark bites Phil, and yes, PEX…

spent some time and money trying to appease the neighbors. Added 3’ of stove pipe and a foot more of reducer and cap.

Been burning for a couple of weeks straight. Nothing like walking into a nice dry place of heat from being out in this cool humid creek valley that I live in....

I haven’t been playing with my wood much lately but got my fix today. This pile was bucked up last January or so and a buddy has been picking away at it with his maul for exercise….. Well today I hauled my splitter over and finished off splitting the red oak and got a good start on the shagbark. Probably just a couple hours left of splitting then a few more to get it stacked. Should end up with 2.5 to 3 cords I’d guess.
