Smokers Welcome: Official Scent Smoker Thread

xbowguy will tell you to watch your hair. Not that we haven't all had similar experiences, but I think one of his first times using it he smelled like singed hair. Seems like when you are starting to run low on wood/smoke if you use the plume and try to get it built up again you can throw sparks. I am sure most everyone here using the SS has a hole in a piece of gear or has smacked themselves on top of the head when a hot ember was forced out using the bellows.

I laugh now. I slap my head later! Hahahahahahaha

I think I'm a little obsessed with smoking up at the present moment...lmao

I got the girls Predator camo shirts a good ole dose of hickory smoke last night and today around the back patio pit. I put them with my smoked up clothes in my totes. I got both blinds smoked up and stored away as well.

Is it hunting season yet? Can't wait.....

Must have been a day for smokers lmao. I TOO had mine rollin and breaking in the new blind I got last year.

Hung my clothes inside from the poles along with my harness and pack and just let it sit gathering some hickory smoke for about an hour and a half this afternoon.

I will be waiting until the morning of. My stuff is all washed and put away in totes or a huge Scentlocker bag. It feels like brand new sanitized gear and when I smoke it up the first time it is like I am invisible to their noses the first hunt or two. lol

I talked to my buddy tonight and he said I could just have the lockers so in the back of the truck they went. They were individual lockers that bolted together with a center divided. I removed the center divider and then bolted it back together. I am also going to get a hanging rod to hang my clothes on to smoke and store.

I have a couple questions for the SS experts.
Would you seal the locker up as best you could? I plan on smoking my outer layer the night before just to be sure I am doing everything right. That way I can smoke in the daylight before I attempt smoking everystuff in the dark.
I also plan on storing my clothes in here year round.
If sealing as tight as possible is the general concensus, what would be a good sealer to use? I'm afraid that silicone may put off that horrible smell.
Do any of y'all use a locker or something similar to this? If so, any tips or tricks you use with your locker?

I would say you don't want to seal it completely that way the smoke can keep moving up and through the clothes. Also if it's sealed at the top then there will be an air pocket that won't get much smoke at all. Maybe a vent or two at the top and bottom will work best?? I agree on the duct tape!!

Thanks for your input Ric! Still looking for more tips and opinions on my locker guys and gals, if ya feel like chiming in.

If I'm smoking clothes up the night before a hunt, I'll store them in those giant ziplock bags. That seems to really keep them smelling strong for the next day. I'll wash the inside of the bags down with scent killer soap, wipe them dry, and smoke the bags up too so that there's not a plastic smell that could transfer over to the clothes. I've been using the same bags for a few seasons now so they're nice & seasoned.

I keep all my stuff in a tote clean and smoked. The few times a year that I wash my gear I will put a good base coat of smoke on it then store in the tote.
I will re smoke every time I hunt. My routine is to drive to the field start the smoker to get it going while I change in the field, and smoke the layers as I go. Change out when I'm done put my stuff back in the tote.

Just ordered mine today! Hopefully it gets here before opening day I really put it off.... and a little constructive criticism on the website, I don't want to be that guy but I believe proper grammar always makes something more credible. But on the front page there's this quote(see below) and a lot is spelled wrong.

"The scentsmoker is awesome. I have been using it daily & have yet to be winded, & I've had deer around me 360 allot. Great product!!!"

I'm really sorry if I offend someone for this I don't know if you know and don't care but I figured I'd at least give a little heads up. I'm just trying to help out.

Np man. I appreciate the criticism. The site was put up in a hurry last year. Ill fix the one you pointed out on the front page. Its a quote copied directly from an email.

Maybe you could try some of that weather stripping for windows and put it on the inside to seal the doors. And duct tape for the vents like finallyshedded said.

It will probably be there tomorrow, day after at the latest.

BTW, Ed doesn't spell as well as he hunts. :)
