Hope everything is okay Dale.

Ben- I don't feel like a "winner" right now. My wife and i both work hard. Because of this, I am penalized. When I say i am going to seek out my "inner loser", I really mean it. The tax structure is truly penalizing us. It is taking away my drive to do well. Take away the income tax, and just figure in the sales tax I collect from our customers, the payroll taxes I pay, the CAT tax, the sales tax I pay on goods purchased, and all the other taxes total I pay, and it is truly depressing. Let's not forget the fuel tax and property taxes. I could live on the taxes I pay. Not the income tax alone, but when you add up all the taxes I collect or pay in, it totals more than what my income was last year. Really just makes you feel like you are just turning dollars.

Did I mention my wife's grandmother died today?

Starting to come to grips with the taxes. Making a game plan, achieving some focus and strategy for cash flow in the next 4-8 weeks. Feeling happy about the outcome of our court date this morning. We are now permanent legal guardians of my wife's nephew. Enjoyed bob Evans with my wife and her sister/B-I-L. Drive past some job sites to bid some work on the way home. Came home to relax and talk with my wife to digest the series of events which have occurred over the last couple days. Next thing we know, she gets a text (yes, a text of all things geesh) stating her grandma had passed. Not something to complain about. Just part of life. However, something tells me the rest of the day will be at the house catching up on paperwork, and being there for my wife as she digests this news. Sometimes, you feel like you are fighting your way off the ropes, and you just get nailed with another punch sending you back onto the ropes. Physically I may not be a fighter, but i guess mentally I am one.

thanks Aaron. Outside of my allergies kicking my tail today, life is good. Tree pollen is nuts right now.

Probably so. I suppose I will never be rich then. They say if you live an honest, clean life you will never miss a night of sleep. You won't be looking over your shoulder all the time. I have found this to be far from true. I don't have to look over my shoulder, but it sure doesn't help my sleep being honest. Maybe it is time to quit being honest. Maybe I should cheat the system. Or. . . maybe I should just quit working. Then I would be able to sleep in my government house, eat my government food, talk on my Obama phone, and take my kids to the hospital each time they have a sniffle on the government nickle. Heck, I would even get a paycheck from the government for NOT working! Then I could make a living scrapping metal, working for cash, and spend the rest of the time fishing. Freaking amazing system we have going here!

I'm feeling a little blue today. Heaven has one of our good guys. I'm 40.5 and today is the first day in my life I don't have a grandfather. I got the phone call last night about 6:30.

Yesterday Grandpa had a dental appointment in the morning to fix 2 teeth. He wasn't up to the appointment so it was cancelled. My uncle helped him shave around 1pm then my uncle went to the grocery store. At 2pm my uncle got a phone call that my grandpa had passed at the age of 98. Cremation will occur today. I'm proud to say and have I been blessed to shared 40+ years of my life with him. There aren't too many 40 year olds out there that have grandparents still left. My 97 year old grandmother on my mom's side is the only grandparent I have left. At the age of 21 I still all 4 grandparents. I've been blessed; even with a lump in my throat today.

Really hate to hear this Ben. thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Workers Comp really sucks, I'm still waiting to get an MRI approved so they can definately find out what is wrong with my shoulder and start the process. In the meantime I am still working with one arm, the Dr said he will not write me off work until I have the MRI, so I have a work restriction stating no use of my left arm, there really aint a whole lot you can do in a machine shop with one arm!!! If I had done this at home they wouldn't have let me come back to work but since it was done on the job they don't want me off because of the lost hours status they would have!!! I found out yesterday that the reason I hadnt been contacted about my MRI was because the lady in our HR that handles workers comp hadnt even opened my file to start processing any of the paperwork yet!! I asked her if she only had one arm to work with how long would it take her to file her claim and the answer I got was we have 9 to 14 days to process the paperwork, well I go back to the Dr Monday and we will see what he says, its to the point now that I cant even raise my arm up !!!! sorry for the long rant but I'm already tired of this shit and I know its just started!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for your loss, Ben.

As you were, I am still hanging onto my grandfather. He is 97 now, and on Easter, I got the sense he'd rather just move on. Its a strange feeling, knowing we have to let them go.
