Nada. By the time I got back out there the bucks and yote where long gone. Headed out to get some tree rats and didn't see a single one. I did however kick up 2 doe that was bedded in the bottom of a dropoff staying out of the wind. Figures, hunt deer see squirrels. Hunt squirrels and see deer lmao.
2pm Dante showed up and we set out to deer hunt the evening out of our blinds. Dante spooked one while setting up and she ended up down by me but in the groundblind I lost her as she moved behind some brush. Around 5:00 had another doe work her way down toward me but she was walking with a mission and didn't stick around or get any closer the 65 yards. Nothing followed her so she must have been running late for a date or something. Oh, and I did see a bunch of squirrels after I returned to the woods with the bow lol.
Up and drinking coffee. Already had round one on the porcelain throne. Hop in the shower in a few minutes and then off to the woods. Sure hope I didn't miss much over the weekend.
Day 1 of 7 switching from our property to hunt public land.....
Got to the parking lot, no cars sweet! Smoked up and set off to my honey hole bout a mile walk in downhill. Get down there and start to my tree and bout 20yds from my tree I'm getting excited then boom a flash light shining at me. I wave and walk off. Then I know of another good spot farther down the creek and I'm walking in when all the sudden a beam of like comes down in me and I think oh shit it's happening. The aliens have come. I look up and there's a guy in the tree above me. I apologize and walk back out. Got to the bottom of the hill got a swig of water put a lip in and made the hike out. 30 minutes later I made it. Decided I'm gonna watch the sunrise up on the hill since my two spots here are a wash.
Got in a little later than I wanted due to a unexpected stop at the gas station for round three, I need to check the expiration date on that Imodium. Bumped a deer coming in and didn't get settled in till 6:40. Nothing but squirrels and chipmunk so far.
Four bucks and five antlerless so far. The big 6 just went by. I'm hoping he doesn't come back. I'm getting tired of the early morning wake ups and he's looking better every time I see him.
Just let a deer walk a lot of people would be happy to shoot. He may not be so fortunate if he comes back and gives me a chip shot. Solid 130" 8. Just don't need another 130" deer on the wall.
