The TOO Live Hunt and Recap Thread: 2013 Edition

Perfect! I was outside smoking up my clothes when UPS arrived with the socks I wanted to wear today, so I ripped open the package and smoked those up TOO. Great timing!

Hopefully I'll be a bit warmer for tonight's hunt now. :smiley_chinrub:

Good luck again, I'll be out too. The wind is a bit much but it's blowing the right direction for me.
 
Hang tough! It's gonna be a bit chilly. I'd expect it to be chilly enough to put deer on their feet before sundown. Hope to read some good reports from you all!

Every chance I get! 90% of my hunting stuff is from the kids section. lmao

Tonight was horrible. For some stupid reason I thought I could last 2 hours. I thought that because I was relying on the hand, toe and butt warmers I used for the first time today. The butt warmer did work, but my toes have never been colder in my life.

I have the deer pegged at coming in every evening between 5:30 and 5:45. At 5:00, I was pulling my boot off trying to desperately figure out why the warmers were not working. I knew I could not last another 30 to 45 minutes, so I decided to pull the plug then, rather than risk the deer seeing me leaving my hunting spot.

I came in the house and took one of my rubber Muck boots off and put on my regular cloth (?) hunting boot. Suddenly, the toe warmer started working. I walked around the house with one boot of each kind on, and sure enough, the one with the Muck boot was ice cold. Took that boot off and put on the other hunting boot, and wah-lah, the warmer started working.

Do those toasty toes (or whatever brand it was) not work well with rubber boots?
 
Nothing doing on our end. Checked the cam and the buck was there yesterday at 6:00, but not tonight. Also, 6 doe were there right before we arrived. According to the camera, 3 fed off the opposite direction. We saw the last 3 and spooked them on the way in.

Hopefully try again on Sunday.
 
Saw 3 doe this afternoon, had all of them under 25y. Talk myself right out of shooting 1, was hoping to see some horns. Oh well first late season hunt in Ohio went good.

They need air to work. If there is room for you to wiggle your toes around so some air can get to them they will warm up for a little bit, but if they can't get air they won't work.
