A little side hustle. Electric, insulation, and T&G at my buddy’s cabin.

Thanks everyone! Still have a ways to go before it’s all done but it feels great getting to this point. We’re wishing we went bigger with the gazebo at 12’x20’ but not much we can do about it now but just make the most of it.
I finished painting black what gray conduit and boxes left to do and the new fan came today so hoping to get it hung this weekend.

60” outdoor rated ceiling fan with remote,6 speeds and light and string lights installed this weekend. We’re very happy with the look of both. I cut off excess wedge anchor threads so I could snap in place caps that I painted black to make anchors add to the aesthetics. I might raise the post trim off the concrete a little to reduce any moisture/rot potential.
We might add another string of lights along the outside perimeter IF more light is needed on the outside area of gazebo.

We’ve gotten a lot of rain since this thing went up a few weeks ago and I’ve already had it with the wetness around the trim pieces that aren’t really that well made to begin with. You’d think mass produced kits that have been in stores for several decades would have fixed this simple stuff like spot on specs for the four pieces that wrap around the bases of the 4 corner posts. All four corners had gaps that would need sealed on the top and corner abutments. Other than that their CS was great and were very quick sending me replacement boards that weren’t warped. If I decide to put the trim back on I’ll cut the 8” lengths down another 1/8” to 3/16” to eliminate the gap but will still seal but for now I’ll let things dry out and see how it looks and dries after some really wet weather.

Overdue honey-do this afternoon. Had a leaky faucet with limited features. Replaced it with an affordable option that makes more room for buckets/pots/etc. while adding a sprayer. Had to move the paper towels to inside the cabinet, but a nice upgrade nonetheless.

Paint and flooring coming this winter for the laundry room. It's right off our garage and is the first room we enter when coming home. Probably be more modifications made when that happens.

Due to the grade of the new patio addition we have rain runoff entering the gazebo area so I’ve been searching for ways to mitigate the problem. Found this stuff on line that’s carried in some local retailers/box stores called, Quick Dam. It’s not cheap but not too over the board on cost to just try and experiment on this issue. I saw on the news that some heavy rain might be expected last night so I laid out a barrier as directed on the label and after hearing heavy rain over night I was wondering how well it worked. Although last night wasn’t of the toad strangler kind I was impressed with the results. Im hoping to see more rain tonight to get more testing done but if this continues to keep the concrete dry under the gazebo for 6-8 months from Spring into late Fall I might buy some more next year. I’ll continue to keep y’all updated on the experiment and findings.

Not a "Rick" project but this was a big project for me 🤣. Our house was built in the 50s and has a large, waste of space utility closet in the carport. Unfinished with janky shelves, no insulation, no ceiling, and exposed wiring everywhere.
My wife and I decided on finishing this space and making it a space for dry supplies and canned goods. I insulated the walls, insulated and put in a ceiling, put up panels, a new 8 ft led light, and shelves galore. I'm proud, and the wife is thrilled. I would like to think that my sweet grandmother is looking down with joy as I turned her old pantry into the functional space that it is now!
Note to self, thisbwill be a freaking winter project next time!!!! This humid Georgia heat can be rather unforgiving!
