Nice work Larry! I wish I had more hickory to cut up! Most of what I’m gettin here lately is dead ash. Not complaining just would be nice to have some smoker wood to cut. I’ve been eyeing a Shag top that’s snapped off on the neighbors next door that’s been laying there a couple months. If he doesn’t want it I might get a 1/2 cord out of it, we’ll see.🤗👍🏻

15 degress with the flag standing sideways still. Ill have to get up at midnight to throw more wood in to keep the house temp up.
Hang in there. I had many days like they with our first set ups. Those single digit days ate some firewood fast. Like four times a day filling it.

If anything the wood stove as the only heat keeps us closer i think. Alot of bitching this morning but all 5 of us circled around the stove at different times as people were getting ready for school. Im sure the kids wont forget it when they get older or at least i wont forget it.

1/14/2022 - TODAY'S WOOD PILE/LOAD/HAUL

After

Started work at 1:00 p.m. on tree #1, and half of #2 afterwards. I left the property at 4:00 p.m. with a full truck bed loaded up with dead Ash.
I cut up one in a half of the five trees that have fallen within the farm field over the course of the past year. After doing all the cutting and loading, I picked up all the loose debris and tossed it right along the side of the field so the field can get planted completely this year.
I figure I'll end up with 3 to 4 truck loads total out the five fallen trees when all said and done with the clean up.
I will be doing this wood work whenever the weather and field condition permits. A rock solid frozen ground is what I need to get my truck up close to these trees and do the work because the F250 SD you see above is only two wheel drive.

I now have a enough firewood to get me through a few weeks at least.

1/27/2022 - TODAY'S WOOD PILE/HAUL/LOAD

These frigged temps has caused me to burn through my last load of firewood rather quickly so, today I headed back out to get me another truck load at the other farm.

I couldn't get to the other trees out in the field due to the amount of snow on the ground, so I ended up cutting up some other dead Ash trees that were already on the ground nearest to the owners driveway, plus a small Maple.

I cut the cream of the crop pretty much, some of the largest pieces and used my toboggan to pull them up one by one out from out of the gully to the back of the truck. Trust me, I got a heck of a workout this afternoon by doing that, but I managed to get me some real good firewood.

I was able to pull up 4 to 6 pieces at a time of the little Maple in comparison of the large Ash pieces.

I started work right after lunch, right at 12:30 and I was done by 2:30 p.m. - The heavy load.

Got home an hour later, then unload and stacked - Today's haul & pile.

No hunt this evening for me, I'm beat! Taking it easy tonight. Back at it again tomorrow.

I'll be making a few more of the firewood hauls I'm sure before Spring shows up.

2/7/2022 - TODAY'S WOOD PILE/HAUL/LOAD

Another great day to get caught up on some more firewood. Today's load, haul and pile.

I started work once again right after lunch at 12:30 and finished up two hours later leaving the other farm at 2:45 p.m. Took about an hour to haul it all home, then unloaded just moments ago. More dead Ash that was already on the ground that I cut up to be burnt in the woodstove in the shop.

Before and after of the location I worked this afternoon.

The load, heavy haul and then unload within the barn carport at home.

Finally found some time to get the last of what I have split all stacked up today with some help from the wife and girls. A nice stack sure looks purdy! Right at about 3 cords. I’ll probably look to sell it next January or so.
