I smoke everything, I hang my pants over the smoker and let the smoke roll up the pant legs, same with the shirt. Then smoke up after I have everything on.
Speaking of nuts, I'm certain my neighbors thought I WAS nuts when, last year they saw me standing out back in my long undies smoking myself.

Neighbor lady just pulled in. I was standing at the back of my jeep blasting my stand, pack, bow, boots....Then I set a brick in there, put the smoker on top of it and closed the hatch. Should have seen the look she had on her face. I just smiled, waved and went back inside.

i wish. nobody to watch the pipsqueak until the ole loady gets home around 6. Just taking a minute to get stuff ready for friday.
i might go out to glass the cut corn tonight though.

I'm new to the site and just saw this thread. I have to jump in. I've been smoking up for 2 yrs now (thanks to ChuckC). I have not had a bad experience with it. Nor have I had a deer blow at me. None of my hunting friends will try it. They just laugh at me. After reading all these posts it feels great not to feel like the lone ranger. I even made my built in tool box on the truck cap into a smoker. My boots and packs all fit in, its works great. I still use a tote too.

You can get a torch at any Lowe's, Home Depot, Menard's, Wal-Mart etc...
Plenty of good places to get chips, look in the grilling aisle. Meijer, Sears, and all of the above...

Funny I just wrote that list out, I had an "oh shit!" moment and realized that I only have a handful of chips left from last year.

I went in full blown panic mode a few moments ago when I realized I used the last of my chips yesterday and was gathering my stuff for a hunt in the morning. Then I remembered I squirreled a couple bags away in the garage on a shelf. Honestly. Id rather hunt in a Rudolf sweater than hunt in camo without smoke. Lol.
Or you can get a retired guy to make you wood shavings. Actually I didn't ask him to. My dad texted me one day and said he just made two bags of chips from wood laying around in a pile. Used them yesterday and they worked like a charm.

Hi Guys! I am new to this site too, but I had to tell you my experience of smoking up.... I have been smoking up now for 5 yrs. I have never been busted by a deer and I kill at least one deer every year. I don't use a smoker. I have a burning barrel that I fill with leaves and sticks and light it and just stand over it to smoke up. Works great and the barrel cost me nine bucks!
Great to see you over here whodey1966! Yep just about any method works to get the smoke on you and your clothes. The scent smoker is pretty convenient though since you can only fill enough to get the job done, smoke everything including your equipment and body, do it truck side at your hunting location and be able to put it out to head to the woods.
